Simple computer question for some.

I know that after i got my laptop, has Xp home on it. I was screwing around and found a way that it told me about my computer, like amount of memory and type, processor and so on.

Still can't figure out how to find it again.

Also seen somewhere how i could make a degree symbol as well as others by hitting a couple of keys in a specific order. Can't find that either.

Any help?

Try this:

1. Start
2. Run
3. then type: msinfo32.exe

Also, you can look under Programs, Accesories, system tools and look for System info.

On your desktop there is an icon labeled My Computer. Right click on it and choose 'properties'.

For the character map, click the Start button, > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map.
I use it often enough that I created a shortcut for it on my desktop (right click on the link, then choose 'send to desktop, create shortcut').

Thanks that character map was what i was looking for.

The system information I guess I will need to take the serial number to the HP site. I would like to upgrade the memory and nit sure what type is in there.

The keystroke for the degree symbol is ALT+ 2 4 8. Hold the ALT key then press 2 press 4 then 8.

The Belarc Advisor will tell you everything (almost ) about your computer.
