What would it mean (to you) to be rich?
I've already learned to quit spoiling the kids so much, so I would set up provisional trust funds for them. Set my parents up for life.
The I would disappear in my trusty 97 F150. travel as far as I could drive it. then leave it in storage until I return from whatever other travels came to mind. New Zealand is a place I'd like to see, and maybe even live if it is what I expect it to be. The I'd send for my F150
A 40 foot sailboat maybe.
I'm sure the wife would make plans of her own

Well, years have past and I still have that day dream every time I "toilet-up", but NCSU's list looks about like mine, except for the trip to Amsterdam.. I'm married, and I don't ski- so, it's be a wasted trip for me.
I to would take the 50% payout option, so that'd cut me to $80.5 Mil, minus roughly 40% in taxes, so trim $32M off the $80M, and that leaves about $48 mil to play with.
I'd get with a finincial planner, and distribute $38 mil in various banks, IRA's, and other financially sound stuff, to ensure my immediate family members are never in a financial pinch again.
Then, with the $10 Mil, I'd take 2, and give the wife $2, and with that Four million, we'd take care of our friends and family they way we see fit. Be that paying off their bills, buying them a car, or just helping them out to a certain level, and that's it. Our close families are fairly small and my circle of true friends is very small as well- so I don't expect to spend more than $1.5M doing all this- but, I'd allocate $2M, and, when it's gone, it's gone. For the remaining $6M, that's what we'd do our thing with... New house ($600K - $1.2M, 5,000 - 7,500 sq. feet) on a decent spot of land 2-3 acres, and an 8-car garage.
My Cars:
1.) Mercedes S550 w/AMG appearance package
2.) 2004 BMW 760Li (And have it restored as close to new as possible).
3.) 2002 Ford Expedition- Then I'd send it to Chip Foose, with a $50,000 check, and tell him to do his thing. I want a Lightning engine in it, but instead of the super charger, I want twin turbo's, and at least 600 HP / 600 lb. ft.. the 22" chrome, 5-spoke wheels, with back tires at least 315 mm wide (rear) and 295 mm wide (front). Lowered a bit (but not slammed), all black, suspension upgrades, etc.. Then, send it to West Coast Customs for my custom stereo enclosure, and custom console work. Then, when it's back home- that'd become my daily driver.
4.) 2010 Mercedes GL550 (For when we go out of town).
-------------------
Wife:
1.) 2010 Mercedes SL500 (She loves convertibles)
2.) 2010 Bentley Flying Spur
3.) 1965 Mustang Convertible, Red with white leather interior (I'd have it Fose'd too)
4.) 2010 Mercedes ML550
After the new house, and 8 cars- that still leaves us about $4M of the $6M. I'd have FULL CONTROL over the layout, design, and equipment placed in my home theater room, den, garage, the game room, and my office. I'd have a 50% vote on the Master bedroom, and the kitchen. She can have full control (furniture & design) over everything else- my son and I will work together on his room.
I'd adopt maybe two more kids (a girl and a boy), so my son would have siblings.
Furninshing the home, should at best (worst) cost another $500K to $1M- which would leave $3M. We'd take that, and put it in our personal checking/savings accounts- and with no bills (except the normal stuff- lights, gas, water, etc...) we shoud be able to live off that (Plus the $38M that's bearing interest and compounding) for the rest of our lives. I'd travel, and see the stuff I've always wanted to see-
1.) Niagra Falls
2.) Grand Canyon
3.) Washington D.C.
4.) Sear Tower (Up close)
5.) Paris, and the Eiffel Tower
6.) Go back to Germany, and stay at a luxury hotel for a week or two, get my license over there, then rent a Ferrari, and drive on the autobahn.
7.) Season tickets for the wife, my son and our two close friends to the Mavericks home games (courtside).
8.) Season tickets to the Cowboy's games. (Skybox/Luxury suite).
9.) Lease a luxury loft in Downtown Dallas, with a view of the city- and go there when the wife and I just want to get away for a night or three.
We should be able to do pay regular bills, and do all this, annually, just off the interest money from the $38M. And, that'd be it.
Help out family when needed- and try to enjoy life as much as possible, for as long as possible, with few, if any, financial worries. When he's 18, send my son (or children), and their children, and their children's children to the college of their choice- be it Harvard or Grambling, and set them up to succeed. Then, one night- pass away in my sleep with my arms around my wife at age 87, having never been seriously ill in my life.
However, the first thing I'd do it pay off Citi Bank (And I'd still have "Ph**K you" in the memo line... No reason, interest rate hiking summa b!tchez"), then I'd let them all line up to kiss my butt with their various "black cards" and turn them all down, except one (TBA).

Custom car restorations (commissioned and personal projects) and travel would take up the rest of my life. Probably a custom home with some weird eccentricities built in, too.
I'd set up a scholarship for student athletes in poor Appalachian communities who aren't good enough to get a sports scholarship, but have excellent grades.

just throwing it out there tumba because this is the second time you have said something about sail boats. if your planning on living on one id go with a catamaran yes i may be partial but you get so much more space for the length plus a 40' mono hull would be a chore to single hand a 40' cat on the other hand is much easier if rigged right. plus there more stable.

I had a 22 foot MacGregor before, similar to this one. 500 pound retractable keel. I had it at the State Park Marina at Lake Degray. It's a little safer on open water, with one man operation. But I'm getting to old for that stuff, I'm just dreaming anyway

I'd buy a vast acreage of land in the Texas hill country and have a large one story ranch house built. It would have an in ground pool, well decorated outdoor living/kitchen area and pool house in the backyard and the immediate yard around the house would be landscaped with native shrubbery and plants.
I'd have a large pond/small lake with a pier and boat dock on the property with a few small fishing boats, well stocked with native fish species.
I'd have a couple of fully stocked shops for storing and working on the vehicles and tractors, and a wood shop.
That's about it, I'm a simple guy.
My brother-in-law is a financial adviser/planner, so he could handle the money aspect of things.

Oh yeah- I'd have a wood shop too...
I love wood-working, building cabinets (Book shelves, Amore's, entertainment centers, etc...) and stuff like that. That's what I'd do with my days after I enjoy life a little... Enjoy it a litle more, doing things that I love. Woodworking being one of them.
I might buy a big fancy light blue or burgundy Peterbilt or Kenworth Rig and trailer, and do some regional driving whenever I felt like it. Making a run to Houston, or New Orleans, or El Paso- Just me, the wife, my son, and the big-rig enjoying the open road on I-20, I-10, I-45, I-35, etc.. @ 70 MPH- cruising...
Something like this, only- in the colors mentioned above... Maybe even black & chrome...

BigHersh: 6'2", 350.
I would buy all the land i could get I would then build my self a big @ss shop with a hoist and a sweet machine shop where i would produce my own guns for fun. Get my class 7 license so i could make fully automatic machine guns then buy stamping presses so I could then manufacture my own ammunition. Then spend the rest of my life shooting at any thing i want because i have soo much land i would never shoot out of my property.

And upgrade to a double-wide trailer.
