Rather Abstract Computer Question

My computer is being wiered.... I have a couple examples of a specific problem, but I'll give the example that's easiest to relate to.

I want to setup an ODBC connection to an Access Database on a Mapped Network drive F:

When I go to setup the connection, I need to point it to the F: Drive but the F: Drive is not in the Drive drop down menu. Sometimes it's empty, sometimes it'll show C:, sometimes it'll show mapped drive Z: but never F: or G:. If I click the Network button, I can go look at the mapped drives and they show up, but they never display in the drive select dropdown. It's driving me mad.

This side steps the question but map it to the UNC path that way the drive letter doesnt need to exist.
