I'm baaaaaaa-aaaaack!

Just bought it on a hand shake. Best kinda deal in the world. I go pick it up & pay him on Thursday. Even got the fiance's approval...

It's a 1975 F100, short bed, 390, auto, 2wd... needs some TLC, but it was only $400 and ran good... Needs a tune up, but he's even throwing in a new carb... I'll try to get some better pix of it later. I just brought it over to the house to look it over, and took some close ups...

It's been hit on the passengers side, but that won't keep it from hauling Belvedere parts!!!

The sad part about it is that the seller had just two more payments on it and that baby was all his...

So fill us in on the deal...is it yours forever? Is your buddy gonna buy it from you later? Do you still have a buddy?

Yeah, still have a buddy. He went over there with me, and I let him drive it back. He might be even more excited than I am.

I plan on putting the new carb on along with some new tires, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, change the fluids, and clean up the vacuum lines. Then add power brakes so the little lady (5' tall) can drive it too. Then just drive it!

He said he'd pay me what he can when he can, and I can park it at his place if I need to. He'll even let me park it in his garage (since mine will soon have the Stang and Belvedere). I told him whatever he can do, whenever he can is fine with me. I just ask that I have full access to it until Spring. He said no problem, and that it would be a while before he could do anything to it anyway, so I'll have full access to it until he's ready to tear it down.

I have a feeling I'll be wanting to keep it come Spring, but a deal is a deal, and I need to get the Belvedere done for the wedding... besides, my uncle mentioned maybe wanting to sell my old '74 El Camino some time, so it might be back up for grabs by Spring... But until then: I'm a Ford Truck man!

[EDIT]

I'm back, because now I actually have a... Well, you got me. This is F150online.com not F100online.com...

Yep, 2bbl Motorcraft... Since he's throwing in a new one I'm just going to leave it (well, leave the new one after I get it put on). Maybe if I still have the truck after the wedding I'll consider upgrading, but for now it will do.

I'd like to fix it up, but I made a deal to let my buddy buy it, so I'll probably help him, but it'll probably be his truck. He's been thinking this over for years. He wants to drop in the 460 he already has along with the '78 grill/headlights, then paint it Dark Shadow Grey with a black interior... But really all he needs is the frame. The bed on mine is probably shot, and he's got a good cab (needs a dent in the roof fixed), drivetrain, interior with tilt wheel & cruise, plus the entire front end... So, by the time he's ready for it we may have found him a bed and frame, and I can keep this one...

Just out of curiosity, you guys don't know of a good short bed frame and bed do you???

I'll try to get some better shots up this weekend. I'm getting anxious, think I'm going to go ahead and pick it up tonight. Thought I'd wait till payday, but with direct deposit I've already got my pay...

I'm watching a brake booster on ebay. Figure that's the only thing I'll really add. I'll probably try to put the old carb and wheel covers on ebay. It's got all 4 full wheel covers, and they appear to be in great shape. I just plan on painting the steelies black, and putting new tires on...

You remember how they used to put the dealership name in the rear bumper? Well, this truck's bumper (so, probably the truck too) came from the same dealership where I bought my '03 Flareside, and '04 Stang, which is also where my buddy who wants the truck used to work... just an interesting side note...

I'll probably start giving it a tune-up tonight or tomorrow. Thinking about driving it up to Mom's this weekend (about 50 miles round trip). Got to do some work on the house, and I can get some Belvedere parts out of storage.

You know what, you're right. I'll get on that tonight at home.

It's in a "driveable" condition, we'll leave it at that.

edit: I found my only crappy pictures I have of it, they are uploaded to the gallery.

Truck started as a 1976 4x4, 360 w/ 2bbl carb, 4 speed. The 1979 cab was transplanted to replace the cancerous 76 cab.

Any one have a cheap 8' bed?

Those old FE series engines just go on forever. They weigh a ton but are so durable and smooth.
