Why Anakin? Why? (Last Star Wars Thread)
I promise guys- this is the last one- from me anyway...

OK, I'm not understanding how Anakin got turned to the dark side so easy. I realize he had a thirst for power, but he shoudl have also had an appetite for revenge. After all, the Sith had caused the death of many of his acquaintances, a Sith had cut off his hand (Dooku), a Sith was behind the "Droid Army" (Sidious), a Sith had killed his masters, master (Darth Maul), and- once he found out Palpatine was a Sith, it should have been clear that Palpatine was fighting, essentially, himself- in a calculated war and he was indeed guilty of treason having been the head of the senate, and undermining it at the same time.
All of this was right in his face, and he closed his eyes to it, and became Darth Sidious' apprentice. How? Why? For Padme?
I mean, when the Emporer mentioned his "wife" but Anakin hadn't told him he was married, and when he called her by name- Anakin should have known the Emporer coudl read his thoughts. In fact, he should have assumed those thoughts of Padme's death could have been implanted in his mind by the Emporer.
Yet, in the face of all that- he still turned his back on the Jedi, killed all the Jedi at the temple- including the younglings; then went and killed the Viceroy, and his minions (Which I didn't really have a problem with... But the younglings?)
I realize stuff had piled up on him. The council wouldn't make him a Jedi Master (Even though he was the youngest memeber to ever sit on the council), He felt like he was more powerful than all the Jedi (Although he had potential, I think he'd have had his hands full against Windu or Yoda), Padme was pregnant, the Jedi asked him to spy on Palpatine and Palpatine essentially, had him spying on the Jedi. It was a lot.
But, in one day- to turn your back on everything you have been taught over the last 20 years- is amazing. It would have been much better if Anakin had been defeated by the Emporer and rather than be killed- he turned his life over. But, just to roll-over like he did....
What do you guys think? Everytime I watch it, it seems more & more far-fetched than anyone would give up like that; for any reason.

Okay, so OBGYN and General Grieve Us are fighting with their little life savers, and they fight, and they fight, and then Grieve Us gets in a really cool Big Wheel motorcycle thingy, and OBGYN chases him on a descendant of the Geiko Gecko. When he catches up, and pulls Grieve Us off the cool bike they fight some more, and finally OBGYN loses his sword. Grieve Us comes in for the kill where OBGYN grabs a gun and shoots him, end of story...
Okay, even MacGyver could have figured this one out, and he doesn't like guns either...

So, is it just a light bulb plugged into a flashlight handle???
I thought it odd that he turned so quickly and easily, but then there are several reasons why I pledge my allegiance to Jean-Luc Picard...

That's all I know.

He wanted revenge that is what drove him away from the light side of the force.
Revenge led to anger which led to the dark side....the dark side clouds his judgement explaining why he was led further away by Palpatine. If you remember Palpatine promised Anakin the darkside could teach him how to keep Padme from dying. Ironically love led Anakin down the road even faster.
He didn't turn on the Jedi...he felt they turned on him.
Once he turned over to the dark side that was it...everyone was against him, every jedi had betrayed him. He never saw himself as the traitor.
Love destroyed Anakin...not hatred.

The first three Star Wars movies are about the difference between black, white and shades of gray. Anakin was able to be turned so easily b/c the Jedi were complacent and had lost touch with their basic humanity. Remember how Qui-Gonn wasn't allowed to be a member of the Jedi council b/c he was too into the "living force"? After Episode VI, Luke is a new breed of Jedi who hopefully can integrate their basic humanity with the Jedi philosophy and avoid the blunders of the past. The point was you can't just expect people to suppress all their desires and emotions and live a sterile lonely existence. The Jedi were ripe for the picking, they were smug, arrogant and felt superior to everyone and they never thought about the fact that THEY were the ones who had disturbed the balance in the force. That imbalance was unnatural and had to be corrected, Anakin and the Sith were just tools of the Force. The Sith had learned it long ago (according to Star Wars back story), get too big, use the dark side too much and you create and imbalance and the Force will use the Light side to right things. There once existed a Sith empire with a large number of dark side users, but the Jedi of the early Republic took care of that. Then ironically, over time, they feel into the same trap. Think about it, after episode III, there are two Jedi left (Yoda and Obi-wan) and two Sith (Palpatine and Vader). The force is in balance. The force doesn’t care about the balance of power (political and military) in the galaxy, just the balance inherent in the nature of the Force itself, the yin and yang if you will. The force could have been balanced by creating a large amount of Sith (or just Force users who draw on the dark side) but it was Sith philosophy to always have just two, a master and apprentice to prevent major league dark side infighting. There really was only one way to bring balance back, eliminate a lot of Jedi. In their blind arrogance, they never saw their own demise in the chosen one who would bring balance to the Force.
As vader pointed out, the easy answer is it was LOVE. Women will get you everytime even if you are a Jedi.
On a side note. Best Buy is selling something like those light sabers in the link. It is of good construction and has the illumintaed tube. Honestly, I am not a big star wars geek ( i like the movies but don't practice Jedi....much) but the light sabe is a kick as guys toy everyone should have and I will be pissed if I don't get one for christmas.

there is only ever 2 Sith (master and apprentice)
And we don't know how many Jedi went into hiding. Remember, Obi-Wan changed the hailing message from Jedi HQ warning all Jedi to run away and go into hiding.
While many Jedi had their clone troops turn on them, we don't know how many Jedi overcame and defeated their clone traitors.
Not to mention any Jedi that may have been on missions without any military backup (like ObiWan going after Greivous on his own) And yeah he had backup... but not until he called them.

The sith didnt really "figure it out". The history shows that because the Sith are so consumed with power they constantly fight each other to be the Sith Lord. They killed themselves off by infighting. It isnt about the number 2 per se.
Darth is a title given to a sith lord. Thus Darth Vader or Lord Vader.

I agree but I think it had more to do with them killing each other off constantly.
Imagine 3....#3 would always try to knock of #2 and so on.
Vader was scheming to destroy Palpatine and vice versa. If there is only two it is easier to watch your enemy/friend...
But basically I agree with you.
