So far the only hints that I have gotten are that you were trying to move a mobile home or you were trying to drag a tree. Which one was it?

I wanna know too!

Someone else's car? The front wall and/or door off a building? The tree? THe mobile home? A huge **** bug zapper (keep those pesky 'skeeters away)? Maybe the copier at work is getting the best of him? Maybe the building he works in is giving him the fits (Id skip on trying to pull this one). Maybe the boss...........Id skip on that one too-youd probably get blood splattered all over the Mountaineer and then be like OH NO and hit the brakes and the body would come flying through the back window, and the body continues to fly foreward, as his limphand proceeds to come around and b!tch slap you into uncounsiousness, in return running you into a tree full of mosquitoes, which swarm your Mountaineer as the tree falls on your trailer house.

Just wait, in a week we will see a thread titled "Need help with blood stain removal, home insurance, stump removal, rear window replacement, front fender/hood replacement, advice on a good bug repellant, how to find my way out of unconsiousness, a sore cheek, and a good place to find a helmet to decrease the chances of this happening again"

I read a while back that someone was going to pull the motor off his boat? Would that be what you're going to pull??? If so, don't worry about losing the diff, tranny, torque, motor mounts, etc. If you use the snap strap, drive slowly foreward and when you can't drive any more, stop and put the e-brake on, then wait. The load/motor will eventually catch up.

You forgot about the big boulder and the ATM machine.

If you were trying to pull a mobile home please tell. I've often wondered if a person could pull one with a truck/car. I've thought about disconnecting the utilities and doing it as a joke a few times myself. Turn it 1/4 of a turn then hook everything back up. Or move it 5 feet and hook everything back up.

I too have often wondered about doing that. I would imagine that as long as the trailer would roll freely, and the hitch wouldn't be buried into the ground from the truck bottoming out, you could move it if you had enough traction.

I think as long as the axles were still attached so the joke could be pulled that they would carry most of the load. I don't think there would be much tongue weight. I've seen some of the older ones supported and lifted with a regular 2000 lb trailer jack. As a matter of fact it's the same trailer jacks that came on my boat and jet ski trailers. I'm sure the newer mobile homes are probably even lighter but they may move the axles back futher for the same balance so same tongue weight. I think traction would be the biggest problem. I've got a tractor and a drag bar, if it's less than 2000lbs on the tounge then the 3 point hitch on the tractor could lift the tounge.

My main conceren with turning it would be twisting it to much and doing some structural damage. I'd hate to have to buy a buddies house and that wouldn't be to funny.

A friend sets up mobile homes . He hooked up to a 55,000 # with his '05 350 SD put a rig under the tongue to support the weight and moved it in a parking lot a few feet. wasn't pretty. but it worked.

I thought you were talking about moving the trailer with your truck. I've tried dragging plenty of heavy stuff, it worked fine, but my truck spun the tires because it was chained to my hitch, no weight over the rear.

Yea that's what I was talking about. Moving a mobile home as a joke.

gemstar is that how much they weigh?

I never would have guessed them at 55K lbs
If they are that much, then after you get furniture, clothes, etc. In it, I bet it would be 75K lbs or more then. Yea I don't even think an 8N tractor could do that. Front end would be off the ground.
