I always tell my hubby he lucked out, I didn't want a diamond engagement ring. He actually proposed to me without a ring because he didn't have a clue what I wanted (neither did I). I ended up with a tear drop tanzanite stone surrounded by small round diamonds & even smaller ones in the band. When we left the store we had my engagement ring, a wrap for it & hubby's ring, all for just above $2000.

There is nothing wrong with proposing with no ring (or an obvious joke one), especially if you explain thqat you want her to picka ring she'll love.

I took my wifes best friend with me to the jewlery store becasue I knew nothing about jewlery. "Still dont."

I could have gave her a rubber band and she would have said yes. I am way more materilstic than she is. Thats why I had to get her as big as I could afford, which wasnt much. I knew I could pick out the setting no problem. But I didn't want a crappy stone so I took her friend.

I'm like Kobi, I wear my wedding ring and thats it. I don't even wear a watch.
Sometimes a leather necklace with a cross. "Sometimes being the key word", it broke 3 years ago and havent fixed it yet.

*Kobi panics. Quickly raises his left hand to his face to make sure something crazy didn't happen that he was unaware of during this time period while he's on meds . . . oh thank God...still single*

Whoa there cowboy!!!!!

Don't you go marrying me off like that! You know me well enough by now to know that I ain't stoopid! Married?!?! The Hell!?!?!?!

AIN'T. EVER. GONNA. HAPPEN.

I do have a watch though . . . (have no idea where it is)

I find this fascinating . . .

"I am way more materilstic than she is. Thats why I had to get her as big as I could afford . . . "

Now, I am more materialistic than most. Why just this afternoon my Lamborgini got a flat so I traded it in on a new Ferrari F430.

Yeah, I know, I have a problem.

And even though I'm materialistic, that certainly does not automatically mean I'd go buy my fiancee a ring! (Even though there wouldn't be a fiancee in the first place).

I don't see the connection.

Regardless. You're a better man than I am Matt.

Carry on.

Thanks to the ones that actually tried to help, I went and looked at one I like this morning funny how "they are always on sale" it was really nice and "supposedly 50% off" final price broke down to $5700 but I wasn't ready to buy yet.

Then I talked to my friend that deals with the wholesale guy, and he swore I can get twice the ring for the same money from him. So the next time he comes to town I am going to see what he has. I to think a huge stone looks tacky (especially when she only weighs 98lbs) But I do want the entire ring to sparkle. the main stone will be 1-1.5ct but several small ones around it. I overheard her talking to a friend about her favorite cut was a princess cut, but to me the round cut has MUCH more sparkle light glistening every direction!!!

I am the one that wants to impress her and others and want people to gasp when they see it. Guess you would say I am by far more materialistic than she you can tell by what I drive, how I dress, and what toys I have! And I do have an $800 dollar watch but that is the only jewelry I wear. My first wife didn't get much of a ring under $2,000. But I truly know this time is forever and I WANT TO DO BETTER! Plus I am MUCH better off money wise now then back then!
