Firming the shifts is certainly possible... HWM3's shifts went from soggy bread to burnt toast
The squeal that we're talking about seems to only show up at wide open throttle redline shifts. If yours is squealing at other times, you could have another problem.

Better not raise it to much! Another 900 rpm and I my tack will be pegged out! Yea my squal is right at the shift, expecially if I let it get above 5500 rpm.
Basically I want to shift lower becasue I have to lift and make it shift as it is. At WOT it shifts about 600 rpm after it has quit pulling. It doesnt shift until 6100 rpm (54mph in first gear). I have to lift slightly at 5300-5400 and let it shift then keep it off the floor for a few hundred rpms to keep it from trying to down shift then hammer it.
At 5500 rpm loaded or not you can litearly watch the nose drop as it quits pulling. I think the rev limiter is trying to shut it off but it doesnt want ot shift for some reason. It does shut off at 105 mph so I'm assuming there is a rev limiter as well so I don't belive that it is hitting the redline long. Tach is not marked and this is my first auto since I was 18. So I'm hoping it knows what it's doing. But I never let it get that high anyway. I always lift slightly and let it shift.
Funny that you mentioned the Jeeps earlier, that is what I drove before this Ford too. 87 cherokee, 4.0, 5 spd. I blew it up on the other side of Branson pulling one of those hills, on my way to Harrison Ark. Middle of July 106º it got hot on those hills and either blew the head gasket or cracked a head. That thing pulled it's self on down to Harrison, around Harrison for 2 days, then all the way back to the drive way. That was in July 2004, "I didn;t find teh truck until Sept." I still use it for a brush buggy, hunting, playing in the mud, etc. it is only hitting on 5 cyl. but it pulls it's self just fine for short runs. More than 30 miles you have to stop and add oil and water.

It had 200,000 on it, I'd drove it for 5 years, so figured it served it's time and purpose, I definatly got my moneys worth out of it. So I got the truck and love it.
I actually wanted a Dodge, spent 2 months test driving every used truck that looked promising in my price range in a 70 mile radius. Many Fords, several Dodges, even a few Chevies. This was the first one that had enough power that it impressed me. Didn't have all the options I wanted, and was more than I was wanting to give. But after they got me to take it for a test drive then it wasn't until after I bought it that I realized that I had forgot to try and talk them down.
I was to excited, wanted it to bad to care. Haven't regretted it since, it's been worth every penny and then some. It continues to impress me, but there is always room for tweaks and improvements over stock.

I can guarantee that the "xcalibrator" tuner will fix allllll of your worries. That thing is amazing. You won't have any more "lack of power" in the upper end.

Welcome to the boards even if you don't have an F150, you do say nice things about them so you're forgiven!

Oh. . .Ok. . .I'll just take my little self on over to the "I'm getting bored..." thread and hang out with people who love me. . .
JD definitely has some good info to add to this forumk, even though he does drive a Titan.
PSS-Mag you should definitely check into the Xcal2. It made a HUGE difference in my truck. It wasn't really impressive before, but now it's pretty good for a heavy truck. Removing the speed limiter was kinda nice too as we found out on a short interstate trip this weekend.

Dang it!
Have to search I'll be in HVM3 and JD TIT's kneck of the woods a couple times in the next month. But guess it wont do any good for getting tuned.
Road trip in the 150 pulling 2 cars to N. Carolina... Anyone between here and there with one for a 2000 w/ 5.4L. Beer on me if you do!
Like I wouldn't buy anyone here a beer anyway. but shhhhhh dont tell the one that might have a tuner for me that.

EDIT:
Speed limiter is nice to have gone, I have hit 110 before I slowed

We were a little over 110mph. Fast enough to keep the kids in their dad's BMW behind us.

I've only gotten to use one of my 4 weeks of vacation so far this year but spent it managing a fireworks tent in Marshal Ark. for a friend.

Since we are moving to a new building, then I don't see me getting to use them either.
Either the weekend before or after new years we always go visit my aunt, uncle & cousin in Cave Springs for a couple of days and hunt some more (Missouri's deer season is over by then.) and I also swing by and visit my grandma in Rogers while I'm there too. We can definatly meet up sometime at that time.

Aww, you're too kind
