Question Worht It/How Much...

My f150 needs new bal joint s and a rebuilt fornt axel. Dealer quoted $1100 for it all. But now the heater crapped out and the idle is **** again. Worth it or just maybe time to move on to something newer? I hate idea of paying for somehting new however, but I have gotten cheap. Also good price for it?

John,

Where did you learn to type? Anyway...it depends on if there is an emotional attachment there or not. If I were in your situation, I'd be looking for a nice 2001 or 2002 SuperCrew. I miss my old truck (02Supercrew) terribly, and that would be best for you I think. Or, you could always fly to California and buy an '06 from me.

I was tanked when I typed that. I'm sorry. Not really attached, just really don't want a car note.

ball joints are easy to replace and are not too expensive. whats wrong with the axle?
If your truck is paid for then its worth it to fix it so you dont have payments.

I am not so worried about the ***** but the truck sounds like hell over any type of rough terrian. The problem in the front axel is the diff. It's completely fouled and thusly I cannot use my 4x4. I could do the work myself but simply do not have the time to do so. As I said the dealer said about $1100 for both jobs. roughly split in half each. Seems like an aweful lot for the ball joints to me. At any rate I could do it myself but don't have the time.
