Remember when?

Close your eyes...And go back...

Before the Internet or AIM

Before semi automatics and crack

Before SEGA or Super Nintendo...

Way back...

I'm talkin' bout hide and go seek at dusk.

Red light, Green light.

Playing kickball & dodgeball until your porch light came on.

Mother May I?

Red Rover

Hula Hoops

Running through the sprinkler

Happy Meals

Wait...

Watchin' Saturday Morning cartoons

or what about legends of the hidden temple, global guts, double dare, and who, ARE YOU AFFRAID OF THE DARK!

could forget Snick

Fat Albert, Road Runner, Smurfs, Picture Pages, G-Force & He-Man Wonder Woman

& Scooby Doo Underoos

Playing Dukes of Hazard

Catchin' lightning bugs in a jar

Christmas morning...

Your first day of school

Bedtime Prayers and Goodnight Kisses

Climbing trees

Getting an ice cream off the ice cream truck

A million mosquito bites and sticky fingers

Jumpin' down the steps

Jumpin' on the bed

Pillow fights

Runnin ' till you were out of breath

Laughing so hard that your stomach hurt

Being tired from playin'

Your first crush...

Rainy days at school meant playing "Heads up 7UP" in the classroom Remember

that?

I'm not finished yet...

Kool-Aid was the drink of the summer

Giving your friends a ride on your handlebars

Wearing your new shoes on the first day of school

Class Field Trips

When nearly everyone's mom was at home when the kids got there.

When a quarter seemed like a fair allowance, and another quarter a Miracle.

When your parents took you to McDonalds and you were so cool.

I want to go back to the time when...

Decisions were made by going "eeny-meeny-miney-mo"

Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming, "do over!"

"Race issue" meant arguing about who ran the fastest.

Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in "monopoly"

Catching fireflies could happily occupy an entire evening

It wasn't odd to have two or three "best" friends.

Being old, referred to anyone over 20.

The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was cooties.

Nobody was prettier than Mom

Scrapes and bruises were kissed and made better

It was a big deal to finally be tall enough to ride the "big people" rides at

the amusement park.

Getting a foot of snow was a dream come true.

Abilities were discovered because of a "double-dog-dare"

Spinning around, getting dizzy and falling down was cause for giggles.

The worst embarrassment was being picked last for a team.

Water balloons were the ultimate, ultimate weapon.

Older siblings were the worst tormentors, but also the fiercest protectors.

If you can remember most or all of these, then you have LIVED!!!

Ah, yes. I appreciate you reminding me just how frikkin old I am- AGAIN! My knee blew out on me a couple days ago, also reminding me how frikkin old I am. Maybe we can talk about the '65 Mustang 289 my mom sold for $300 in 1973 because she wanted something newer. Oh yeah, she sold it a year before I got my license.

The only thing increasing almost as fast as my age is my waistline.

You got your License in '74? Man, you are old. LOL I just turned 39 last week and was feeling a little nostalgic. A friend sent this to me in an e-mail. I kind of liked it.

Atari...lol, i remember when "Pong" first came out...WOW what a game, That was about the time the first "digital watches" were introduced, i can still see the small red numbers, and with a push of a button it also displayed the date. When i was in high school my friend bought one...i think it was like
$ 250.00 which was BIG bucks in 1976.

I remember Pong. They had a Pong game at my mom's apartment complex. Two games for a quarter. Then the Dairy Queen got a Pac-Man game, we were in heaven!

I remember my Mom always hogged the Atari. She would sit there for hours in front of the tv and play "Break Out". She said she got 999,999 points, and was mad because it wouldn't go to a million. Lmao.

I remember the first time I saw color TV, Bonanza on Sunday night.
I remember the first time I heard stereo, Theme from the Pink Panther.
I remember the first time I heard an artificial voice on a science show.
Soupy Sales, Captain Kangaroo, Lunch with Casey a local show. Remember local shows with people that worked at the station as the actors or characters. Test patterns, when TV went off the air at midnight so if you were sick all night there was nothing to watch. When I was in high school there were still people with outside toilets in rural areas. Sounds like the dark ages now but it seemed a simpler time then.

I followed the directions of teh first line... But when I closed my eyes I couldn't read the post.

I'll be 30 this comeing Friday.
I remember most of those things because I have done many of them sometime in the last few months. I must grow older, that dosn't mean that I have to grow up!

No, no, no that's "More Mature", we don't say the O word!!

I remember all that stuff too.

And I remember...no remote control for the TV...the only movies we watched were at the theater or on TV-no videos or DVDs...vinyl record albums and 8 track tapes...the paste we used in 1st grade, not glue sticks, paste...only 3 channels on TV, ABC, NBC and CBS...

Sigh...
