18 cent gasoline and gas wars? 25 cent movies? I felt ripped off when they went to 50 cents! Cigarettes for $1.90/ carton in the commisary, and $3.50 in town? That new bike on Christmas, The first Christmas decorations in the store...right after Thanksgiving? The first James Bond movie, "Dr. No"? The Beatles on Ed Sullivan? Howdy Doody, Yogi Bear, The Jetsons? Kennedy's asassination? The Bay of Pigs? The first advisors sent into Vietnam? Tet?
Yep, I'm an old fart, and I HAVE lived...

OOOOHHHHH How I remember ALL of that and then some ...
I'm still mad that the big wheel came out right after I was officially too big to
get one.... And oh how I wanted one and how much trouble I got into
when my friends and I took the kid next door's without asking....

Yea I remember being the human remote before remotes came out.
I remember the first remote TV that we had. It had a 2" round cable that ran from the tv across the room and if one of us tripped over it we got our heads bit off!

Yea and heaven forbid the president EVER came on for anything. All stations would cover it. They would interupt regularly scheduled programing. It didn't matter if it was Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin. If the president was giving a speech on anything, then they would interupt it to show him!

I swore on my own life that if I ever became president, that I would always check to see what was on TV before I gave a speech. So that I would not interupt anything good on TV.

Anybody remember making custom choppers out of an old banana seat bicycle? We used to weld an extra set of forks onto the front, then cruise the neighborhood. Of course, then we had to jump them. Evel Knievel would have been proud.

Cowboys and Indians was fun, too.

It sounds like you miss being a kid in the 70's and 80's.

I vote for Matt!! But you have to consult me before said speech because the programs you deem good may not be the same as what I do!

Umm, those were from the 90s, on Nickaloden, on a color TV.

Most of the things listed are things people still do.

First day of school...check
First Crush...check
Kool-aid...check
Rides on handlebars...check
Class Field Trips...check
