Winter Is Already Here!!

Just spent my day driving through this system that is now arriving in my home town:

RAIN WILL CHANGE TO SNOW OVERNIGHT AT ALL ELEVATIONS. ABOVE 6000 FEET...HEAVY SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING. SNOWFALL INTENSITY SHOULD DECREASE SOMEWHAT MONDAY AFTERNOON. NORTH WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH...WITH GUSTS 35 MPH...WILL CREATE AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW AND WHITEOUT CONDITIONS AT TIMES.

COLORADO SPRINGS AND LOCATIONS NEAR THE MOUNTAINS WILL LIKELY SEE TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 8 INCHES OR MORE. THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS IN SOUTHERN EL PASO COUNTY WILL OCCUR OVER NORTHERN AND WESTERN PORTIONS OF COLORADO SPRINGS.

This is how it started out early this morning north of Gunnison:

Always look forward to the snow and enjoy it through most of the winter. But I'm always glad to see it go when it finally does! I think this is going to be a long, wet winter here in Colorado.

We always get shafted on big snows here.

Years ago we always would get slammed every winter, but we have not had a really big snow since around 1996.

Maybe this will be the year. :santa:

Yeah, it was still 90 degrees here in Tampa yesterday and humid as hell, I am sick of summer already. Besides, the AC sucks in my 05, I need to put the windows down for a while.

i think this will be the year for tons of snow..... Even though on the local news channel their like "We predict this will be a snowless winter" Yea right.... They cant even tell me whats going to happen in 5hours. but its always a pattern, last year was a slow year for us we had 1 dump of snow and then like 2 days of bad ice and thats it. The year before it was alot of snow and a TON of ice. So this year it better snow and lots of it!

You guys in the Midwest usually get whatever weather we have after a few days. Given the elevation drop, though, it'll probably be rain by the time it gets to you. I'm guessing your days are coming, though. I grew up in Ohio and remember very cold, wet winters. But I hear it usually isn't so anymore.

It has changed drasticly in the last few years. I am just 26, but I remember when I was a kid every winter we would have 3 foot snows like it was nothing.
