My second do-it-yourself powder coated part!

The first part I did was the antenna delete plug on my Mustang. It turned out great so I jumped in with both feet, and here's what happened. The intake you've probably already seen pix of. I had it professionally done. the carb turned out great! As good or better than the intake. I'm still debating what to do about the linkage. I've got a friend who does chrome work, and was planning on having him chrome all the linkage, but I'm kinda toying with the idea of powder coating it. I've got a color called bare steel, and it's pretty close... I don't want to go black though... Need something different...

Any opinions on the linkage? Chrome or powder coat?

I've decided to go with a period correct air cleaner with a "318 4 Barrel" pie pan. That will hopefully be the only color in the engine compartment... If I can get an oven (which the guy who chromes owns an appliance repair, and is working on that for me) I'll get some black wrinkle powder and make it match my Mopar Performance black wrinkle valve covers...

Now, if I could just get the car back... He's just starting the body work this week...

I don't have a ring yet, but it has been discussed, and I've told my GF (who wants to get married either next spring or fall) that she can make all the decisions about the wedding as long as we leave in my Belvedere... So, I've got to get this thing going... there probably won't be any interior in it at the time though...

If there will be any chrome at all in the engine bay, I say chrome the linkages. Is the body anything other than black? Maybe body color would be a nice touch.

As far as the ring...powder coat that bisch while you're at it!

Well, I was actually trying to avoid chrome, and use polished aluminum & stainless wherever possible, so maybe I should do powder coat. The water neck in the picture here is polished stainless... The car is (or will be shortly) Go ManGo (kind of a burnt orange), but I'm trying to make everything in the engine bay black, or polished (chrome where I can't help it)... The only color would be the pie pan sticker...

I've also been thinking when it's all said and done going back and bending some steel tube to run the plug wires through, then painting the tubing body color...

As far as powder coating the ring... good idea, but a little too expensive to risk screwing up...

Are you using that new Craftsmen Powdercoat system I saw in the recent mailer?
