I'm with you. Some people must be super-organized (or **** or obsessive compulsive or something) to keep track of fuel consumption and stuff like that. Once you've pumped the gas through it, what makes the difference? It's gone. It's kinda like my dad obsessing on the price of gas. I tell him, what makes the difference, you're still gonna go fill up when you're empty. You gotta have it to go.

Well its similar to servers and networks. If you build a history of data on performance, usage, etc you have set benchmarks that can be used to compare against future performance and it helps you determine where the problem might be or even if there is a problem. Imagine having 5 years worth of the data on your vehicle established and you've noticed a drop in fuel economy over the passed year. With enough data you can narrow down the list of potential problems.

All that said...I aint that organized...I keep track of my service receipts but that is the extent of it.

Well....I signed up for that 3 month FREE period for Ownersite....the more I look into that site....the more useful it seems to be....I am glad that there are others out there that are just as **** as I am when it comes to keeping records....and then for some of them to be talented enough to actually create a beneficial service to appease those needs....

Thanks!

Keep in mind that the product has evolved and improved since its launch in 2001, in large part based on the feedback and requirements of the users.

(oh, and the free trial is 30 days...and you will get a couple marketing emails during that period from it trying to convince you to convert to a paid subscription )

I keep an spreadsheet that has every fillup and miles recorded. I also note how I drove and where I bought the gas. One thing I have discovered, it does make a difference where you buy it(about .5 MPG). I also keep a spreadsheet on maintenance as well as recording it at My Ford on FoMoCo's site.

Ain't that the truth....I have noticed that some stations gas is far inferior to others....there is one station here in town that I consistantly get about 1.5-2.0MPG less than the others (driving habits tend to stay equal)...I would like to know what the difference could be in the formulas that would cause such crappy performance....maybe one of our ChE's could chime in on this....

I was a firm believer that all gas came from the same pipeline and still am I guess. But, I think some companies do use additives before it is delivered to the pumps. I would like to know. I do think that all independents get the same gas. What I have found is that when I fill up with Exxon, Chevron, or Shell, i get slightly better. It surprised me as I was a nonbeliever. Also, these stations carry 93 octane instead of the 92 at most independents. I need all the octane I can get for my Mustang. My truck is happy with the 87.

In all honesty, if this was something the poster had written, I may have issues with it. But I know that not everyone is willing to pay for Ownersite.com, so I am not going to remove threads that talk about spreadsheets, downloads, etc.

If someone posts about a web-based competitor, then I may jump in and talk about why Ownersite.com is far superior, of course. That's my perrogative.

Somebody needs to report this guy to the mods... This looks like spam to me.

Hey Matt...I just created an account there today....it is pretty sweet...especially for $15/yr (course I will ride the FREE train as long as I can)....the only issue I came up with is an error when I tried to import my gas info...but I will soon see how "supportive" tech support is there...

I've had my truck One year and Eleven days as of today. Only record I have is I kept the reciept to show that the recal had been done. If I started on O.S. now then it would gripe me that I was missing 376 days of data. Besides filling up with fuel, oil changes, Transmission filter and fluid change, Rear end oil change, and a fuel filter. I really haven't done anything to it.

Let me know how they handle the support though.
I might start and catch up what I can from memory. I'm going to be buying a new bigger F series sometime in the near future, so that might be a good time to start keeping track with it.
