I'm headed to NH next week. I'm hoping to get to the top of Mt. Washington - although w/ the wife, 2 kids, and sister-in-law, I'll be driving and not hiking.

I may have to check out the SigArms Academy while I'm out there, and of course we're going to the NASCAR race.

Any tips on what else to check out while I'm there?

36fan, I'm not too familliar with the area there in upstate NH. We were only there to hike. We stayed in Gorham. There wasn't much there. I don't know where the race track is either. Though I would like to, I haven't yet been there.

You've got to be some of thoes hard core NASCAR fans to come all the way up to NH to see a race, right?

I've never driven up Mt. Washington but from what I saw of the road it can be as scary as some of the cliffs we hiked on. Make sure the breaks work good. That transmission will be working to get you up too.

When we got to the top we didn't get a view. In fact it was fourty degrees colder at the top than it was at the bottom with a wind chill of twenty degrees. I guess it's only clear there something like sixty days a year. I hope you get on of them.

Have fun!

We are staying in south NH - a little west of Manchester, but I figure a road trip up north will be worth it.

I've heard the road up is pretty scary, but I've been on the Road to Hana, driven to the top of Haleakala, Pikes Peak, and driven several one lane dirt mountain roads. I'll let you know how I think it compares.

My bro-in-law is getting the tickets, my wife has been wanting go to visit them, and they've been wanting us to come out there, so I figure this is as good as weekend as any. Besides, I'm from Indianapolis - Motorsports Capitol of the World - I'm always up for racing!
