That is an excellent and truthful story. It describes perfectly why and what is happening there. Just like the lady that couldn’t speak well if her life depending on it made stupid statements about the MRE’s she was given ”This is not hot, they expect us to eat it cold, its not right to have to eat this cold”

If I had been the one to give that to her and she whined like a baby I would have taken it back and thrown it into the sewer filled water and told her to go hungry then…

I know this is mean but I only have about 10% of the sympathy for these people as I did for those of 911.

I say leave the city as it is, no reason to rebuild a chit hole, the filth has been washed away why bring it back?

You know as well as I do that all they will do in New Orleans is rebuild it with these nice new homes, and wealthier people will move in and the trash will stay in Texas.

You will really hear some whining now that they have stopped dropping food and water to the people who wont leave. There was a mandatory evacuation, which means everyone MUST leave, there is no other choice. By staying, they are breaking the law. There have been many opportunities for people to get out, whether it was before the storm or by helicopter. Why spend millions of dollars to have helicopters fly all over the city just to drop food and water some dumba$$es that wouldnt leave.

In Houston? Not possible...
It surely lost points when EA left- but now the avg. score is only a 9 (Based upon some of what I've read here). You can't take 10 from 9. My Daddy calls Houston home and his presence alone lowered the score if one were to ask me.
===========================================

All kidding aside; I’m sure that statement I just made about Houston is unfair; in fact I know it is- because you can’t lump everybody into the same bag because they live in the same city.

Many of you guys have never sat foot in New Orleans so you have no clue what you’re talking about. You’re ASSuming, and you know what happens when you ASSume…

The key of what you media-washed (So-called Non-Media believers) people are missing; is that what you are seeing in New Orleans is the bottom 10% of the city. The poor, the weak & elderly (Not saying they're bad people) and the thugs & criminals that stayed back with the INTENT of making a field day stealing before everybody got back- only to have that plan foiled by the city being uninhabitable...

90% of the city heeded the evacuation warning; leaving roughly 50,000 behind in New Orleans proper.

I really can't believe some of what I've read (Many posts in multiple threads) here over the last week... I just hope if bad times fall on you guys; you'll remember and retain your kocky attitude of arrogance and indifference when you're flat on your a$$, and need help from somebody. If you aren't dead yet- don't think it can't happen to you...

Yet, you call yourselves, honest, worthy, patriotic, "conservative" and/or "liberal" Americans... I don't believe you...

Americans stick together when we need each other. Sure, we may argue but when the rubber meets the road, we can usually count on each other...

What I'm reading here lately makes me question that...

Dude get real what does invade mean??. These are AMERICANS not some ****ing foreign piece of garbage or illegal aliens but honest to god AMERICANS. WHEN IN THE HELL ARE WE ALL GOING TO WAKE UP and support them no matter what. "Invade" sometimes faster you write checks your young mouth will never be able to cash..

These are americans (good or bad) Do we really need to continue to beat them down. I don't support some of there decisions to stay but what is done is done. Lets now pick up the pieces and let them have a life, rebuild, relocate and give them a 2nd chance at living....

Not sure about that Hersh

It will be interesting to see how this changes America because it surely will.
I'm sure that the sight of such a large and mostly invisible underclass has been both a shock and a wake up call to the USA.
Once the political point scoring has settled down, I'm pretty sure that there will be many social changes taking place over the coming years.
These will have to be taken by all sides of the community.
The "haves" must look after the "have nots" if this is never to happen again with better social programs. You cannot just sideline people into a ghetto and forget about them.
The "have nots" must take a look at why they are the "have nots" and try to change themselves too.
It strikes me as ridiculous that in this day and age (if you believe the media figures), a black man has more chance of going to jail than college and that 70% of black childen are born to unmarried mothers.
Yet, I have Black and Hispanic colleauges at work who say that their families give them ***** for being "too white" or call them Oreo's/Coconuts because they aspire to something better.
This is going to take changes from all sides but Hurricane Katrina could just turn out to be the alarm call that we all needed.

Well, I don't know the statistics for children born out of wedlock among black Americans, but I can tell you in my class of 33 seniors, we had 2 whites and everybody else was black. Of the 33 of us (all) the only ones who had Mommy & Daddy at home were the two white girls, three black girls, one of us had witnessed a divorce (Me) (My mother & step-father), one was adopted by her step-father and she took his last name and two were raised by their grandparents (Momma and Daddy hauled @$$ in one case; in the other the father died, and Mom moved to pursue a better life).

But, since my daddy wasn't there- I can't count myself or technically the girl I mentioned that was adopted- so of the 33, 29 were without a two-parent household. Therefore 87.8% of us were from single-parent households; that figure rises to 93.5% counting the black students only.

It's a shocking number- but I think it's starting to get better. My mother-in-law runs a daycare and 10 of the 11 children that come there have both parents at home. It's a good thing to see because I didn't see much of that when I was growing up.

A lot of my friends think differently of me, they don't call me "white" but they do tell me "I've changed". Of course I've changed- I've grown up (Except where women are concerned~ I'm still hornier than the average 17 year old). Aside from that, I've seen a lot, I have lots of experience, a decent education (which I continue to work on) and my salary is several times that of the median income of my home of record ($10,250.00). I strive to better myself... I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up, but I do know I don't want to be poor; nor do I want to be that 60-70 year old man working at Wal-Mart greeting people at the door; not that there's anything wrong with that- I just don't want that to be me...

Your absolutely right, Americans stick togeather they DON'T shoot other Americans that are trying to help, they DON'T knock other Americans and play some stupid race card, they DON'T complain about what food and water they are able to get.

While I agree the people that left were the GOOD people, and some, a very small minority that did not leave could not (old age etc) the vast majority that stayed are NOT American's, they are the scum of the earth and don't deserve anyones assistance.

I don't mind helping those that CAN help themselves (or old people, physical problems etc.) but there is something VERY wrong with those (not you) that play the stupid race card, like Jackson and company, and others that shoot at people, rape, and murder others...

Like it or not the is the picture the majority of American's will have of N.O. the truth is there to slap all of us in the face. Therefore the good folks of N.O. need to stand up and tell us how these other racist scum are not their representitives and how they would like to see them rot in hell...

Maybe then N.O. might get a name back for itself...
