EHH..no hard feelins bud. I figured out shortly after I posted the thread that it was some sort of BS spam or virus or whatever, and I immediately stopped messin with it. I honestly did tell myself to take the link down and then got side tracked. My PC seems to be running fine, so hopefully it will stay this way. It was just weird to get something like that thru AOL IM from a screen name that I know and trust, guess you cant be to careful out there anymore. And dont worry, you didnt offened me

Please edit the first post in this thread and delete the virus-infected link before you cause more ignorant folks to click on it and get infected.
Hey!!!
I resemble that remark!
Are you calling me ignorant folk?

Seriously it's not that big of a deal. If you are on the net, then you have viruses. This one was a sorry execuse for a simple trojan. Easily detectable and easily eraditacted.

Ummm..., NO. 5 years online, I picked up a couple in my first year due to IGNORANCE. My current computer is about 3 years old and has never been infected by a virus (yet). The few that have tried all got isolated and deleted before activating. I utilize several tools to keep my system clean, but my number one tool is common sense.

One question though... When was the last time you manualy went throu your registery to look for entries that you did not place on your system?

There are an estimated 200 new viruses created every single day. Do you get 200 different def updates every day from all of your programs combined? If you dont, then you wont have the definition for that virus. If you dont have the def for that virus then your programs will never know if you have the virus or not. Nor will they stop it from coming in.

Every time some one has told me what you did then I can look and find several hundred sometimes into the thousands of adware/spyware and a few hundred viruses. They ussually dont surf anywhere, they just checked thier e-mail. "duh" They are usually paranoid like you too and have a bunch of anti malisious program stoping programs running until thier computers can barely run, do to all of the anti virus/pop up/spyware/adware programs they have running to protect thier precious system! Yet they typically never back thier data up.

Peresonally 1/2 the time I run naked throu the internet (ie not running any anti anything program) "I hate them slowing my system down with a passion" I have never lost a file yet! It's been over 10 years of happy browesing for me!

Edited to add:
I take that back I do always run one anti program... I always run goggle toolbar with pop up blocker enabled.
