our trucks are heavier and also tougher and safer. but I think if we had a better 5 ro 6 speed tranny geared just right and programmed just right we could beat those hemi's. its not how much horsepower you got it is what you do with it. but I agree a few more pony's couldn't hurt. you know the new ford GT has a 5.4 engine that puts out 500+ HP. I am not sure if it is the same 5.4 we got but if it is I dont see why ford couldnt squeeze 350 or even 400 HP for us f150 owners. now I bet 400 Hp and a 6 speed tranny would make these heavy trucks get up and go.

Jason you hit the answer right on the needle point .Ford has built a heavy (hopefully) durable working class truck . Dodge buy no means has maxed out there hemi hence niether has Ford. Ford has this modular engine with alot of various HP builds .The new mustang GT 500 will be the street dominator with Fords 5.4 block . Ford trucks are built to work and ford is not going to build this as a racer. It had the lightning and most likely will bring it back to compete in street truck . Ford let Dodge have its time .

Bluestang67, I totally agree. They'll let the Hemi and SRT10 get all settled in as the fast street trucks. Then they'll throw the cold water on 'em with the new Lightning. I bet it pushes 500 hp BEFORE the nuts on this board get started modding 'em! We're going to see some scary-fast trucks.

and just how many people are going to buy a Hurricane when gas is $4.00?

I think they made the right move by putting the resources back into the 3.5. THAT engine is what is going to bring Ford back from the brink.

Check out this web site for about 400 bucks both my 04 & 05 F150's 4X4 Screw's run circles around Hemis and drive every day so much better shifting and the ford program that causes the engine to throttle back at each shift and the rev limiter that causes them to shift about 500 RPM to early is gone. The best thing is the improved every day drivability.

As far as Lideo at Alternative he is one of the most precise and respected tuners in the business.

I don’t want to start a Vienna Sausage Measuring Contest about who’s the best tuner for the F150 platform. Educated and informed members can and should decide for themselves based on their own research. Everyone knows where I stand on the issue; it’s my opinion I formed reading through this forum and personal conversations with the devil himself. The bottom line is, if you get a good performance tune on these trucks a hemi ain’t *****

Personally I have not been that impressed with the Hemi's. Ran one (my reg cab 2wd against his reg cab 2wd) and he barely pulled me (maybe 1/2 a truck-length by the time we hit 90). He had some kind of aftermarket exhaust and I was bone stock (before my tuner and exhaust). Basically those trucks should beat us much worse with the HP and weight advantage they have.

I'm sure now that I have exhaust and an Xcalibrator I could beat a Hemi.

I agree with most of the other people here. I'll keep my extra 4 or 5 mpg, better dependability, higher resale value, better quality, etc......... they can keep their Hemi motor and the POS that it sits in.

To date, I have Airforce One intake mod only. the other day my truck went in for the headliner recall (which didn't work!), and I asked them to hook it up to see if there was a PCM (??) update for my truck. It took an update and seems to be running much better / harder. I don't recall what RPM it shifted at before, but it will go to 5000 to 6000 rpm's before it shifts out of 1st. the only problem is that it sometimes shifts TOO hard! anyone else experience this?

If you’re shifting at 6000rpm, it won’t be long before you balloon your torque converter.
The stock converter can only take about 5500, 5600rpm’s tops on a regular basis
