Those dang hemi's!!!!!
When I first purchased my 04 I thought it was a little sluggish no tire burn dealer said you whould have to do a brake stand to get rubber. bought it any way liked the look and the stable platform, now nearly two years later I wouldn't give it up for nothing, out works and out pulls those dang hemi's and those dang chevys, talking with a few campers at the last rv site he had a hemi and we where talking about hills one hill going to the park is a 8% grade he stated he was running about 5000 rpms to keep the truck and trailer moving at 55 mph its a 2.5 mile pull and you have to start at the bottom at a dead stop I managed to excellerate to 55 and keep the rpms at 3000 and less 2600 to mantain speed trailer weight between the two with in 500lbs Iam heaver then him I managed 11 mpg he didn't do as well 4-5 mpg. SO when you buy a ford you are buying a TRUCK anything else is just a toy.

And this could be the lowest point of the thread:
Are you serious? Have you seen the jeep aftermarket?! And the others have a good aftermarket selection as well... saying Ford has the largest is just silly.
that post made my day lol!
lol yeah most hemis are quicker...but most of them pay for it in gas mileage.. with 10-12mpg I would switch back to ford.. but I got a factory freak and i get 18-22mpg lol.. so i think ill stick with my hemi.. lol... also another bad thing about the hemi is there is no chips available... only tuners.. which i will be getting my hands on very soon...The only reason i bought a hemi was the warranty... I wanted a 97-03 reg cab flareside 5.4 5speed stx with leather and the works.. HARD TO FIND!! so i got my truck now... i was just curious... Ive almost got my best friend talked into buyin a 97-03 ford with the 4.6 or 5.4... what is the gas mileage on a regular cab 2wd truck with those engines in them??? I cant wait till he gets one that way I can start doing his mods!!!

Judging by my 5.4L Expedition- 5.4L owners don't have a lot of room to poke fun at the Hemi's gas mileage- especially when they're kicking our rumps so soundly in performance.

Check out this web site for about 400 bucks both my 04 & 05 F150's 4X4 Screw's run circles around Hemis and drive every day so much better shifting and the ford program that causes the engine to throttle back at each shift and the rev limiter that causes them to shift about 500 RPM to early is gone. The best thing is the improved every day drivability.
As far as Lideo at Alternative he is one of the most precise and respected tuners in the business.

i feel that it is a very nice truck... sure the motor is stronger, we frequently tow our sled trailer up nort and last year his hemi did great doing it... the motor flat out hauls azz and the trans map is coupled to that motor very well... it keeps the motor in the power at all times... he's very happy with it after being a long time ford owner and frankly his experiences with it almost swayed me to buying one also... for 06 they finally got some needed upgrades... stiffer chassis, bigger brakes, the Multi-Displacement motor, updated interior, etc... also a rumor that they will have a small bore diesel available for the 1500 series... so far, the hemi Ram is the only viable alternative to the f150... now, i'm gonna have to get a couple minor upgrades on the quiet so his doesn't whoop my azz when we play...

Yeah, my 2000 Expy (4.6L) didn't seem as thirsty (Understandably) as my 2003 5.4L. They made a big deal about how much heavier the 2004 F-150 was over the 2003; I wonder what the weight difference is between the 2002 Expedition Eddie Bauer and the 2003 Eddie... Maybe that accounts for the dismal gas mileage I'm getting...
Our 01 SCrew does OK; as did my 1999 SCab Flareside; both had the 4.6L. I could get about 270 miles out of that SCab and be a 1/4 tank before I topped off again. Giving the tank the benefit of the doubt and assuming the guage was accurate- that meant I burned 18 gallons to go 270 miles in the city, that put it at 15 MPG. That same truck would shuffle to Shreveport (204 miles from my driveway) and burn a little under 1/2 tank (12 gallons) for an average of roughly 17 miles per gallon or better.
Hmm, maybe I've been getting *****t!er gas mileage than I thought... At least gas was $0.89 a gallon back then!
