Terrible Experience...Avoid FedEx Like the Plague!

I ordered my wheels and tires from http://www.onlinetires.com on Tuesday of last week (8/23). The wheels and tires shipped on Friday (8/26) via FedEx ground from Pomona, CA, and FedEx said that they would be delivered on Thursday (9/1). Well, the FedEx online tracking shows no activity on the four tracking numbers since Saturday (8/27) when they arrived at the sort facility in Rialto, CA. I called them today, and they said that they have no way to track or trace the packages until 6:00PM tonight. The FedEX truck just sped past my house at about 50MPH twice, once going into my neighborhood, and then again as he went out of the neighborhood...who knows when I'll get my wheels and tires. FedEx is terrible and their customer service is even worse. From now on, I will not buy from places that use only FedEx.

PS - This is not the first time I have had a bad experience with FedEx...but it will be the last!

Well, they are trying to play it off like Katrina had something to do with it...we got some rain here, but Katrina wasn't even bad here in Nashville. There's no excuse for setting an expectation, then not meeting it. I took the day off from work to be here when they were delivered...waste of a vacation day!

IMO, the speed and reliability of all the shipping services has declined dramatically over the last 5 years. Most have gone from simply amazing to barely better than the post office. No way I would ever risk losing a vacation day just because I was promised a delivery. Better to have your stuff shipped to you at work, if possible.

I think you are still slightly better off taking your chances with FedEx over UPS, though.

I usually get Fed-X Ground home delivery late in the afternoon around 5-6 PM.... the truck you saw may have been delivering overnight/1 day/2 day packages.... if they don't come today, you may want to request a credit for the shipping charges... (see Fed-X web site). As well, I'm sure the hurricane really messed up transit schedules all across the midwest/south... for all you know, the truck your wheels were on could have been making a drop in New Orleans en route to Nashville....

If you require 100% guaranteed delivery date/time, you may want to consider overnight/next day delivery next time... :o

Thumbs down Fed X

When I ordered my intake it was delivered by Fed X and I was not happy. Unknown to me was the fact that they charge extra to deliver on Sat. I was told that it would be a three day delivery. I placed the order on a Wed. and it was not logged till Thurs. That means that they deliver on Mon. Well it did not even come until Tues. Had I have known then I would have paid for just regular shipping. In my opinion Sat is a regular work day. Post Office and UPS deliver all day on Sat like no big deal and Fed X should too.

I agree that FedEx is better for overnight...but their ground service sucks...especially since they absorbed RPS and CF.

Another "little-known" fact...if the package is scheduled for delivery on Thursday, and it arrives at your local FedEx sort facility on Tuesday, you can't go pick it up. You have to wait until they attempt to deliver it at least once, and they probably won't attempt until Thursday. I called them once when this happened, and they told me that the package was not at a location where it could be picked up. It sat at that sort facility for two days, then went to the smaller FedEx location across town the morning it was to be delivered. They had held it at the sort facility for two days because it was not a priority...they could have let me pick it up two days earlier, but noooooo!
