I think willsparks8 must have got mixed up.

Are you sure it was 3.55 and not 2.55. I know its usually about 20 cents higher a gallon up in charleston than it is here, and we are no where close to 3.00.

In VA the gas is rated by the (R+M)/2 method meanind they take the average octane rating and that's its 'rating'. You can get 87, 89, or 93 Every so often you'd see 91 and 94 Ultra.

My co-workers husband works for a wholesale fuel supplier and he said that gas is going to go up about 80 cents per gallon overnight. This is really going to hit a lot of people in the pocketbook. If you are close to empty, make sure you fill up today. If you just filled up, then you might still want to think about filling up again. This is getting to the point of ridiculous, but I understand why this is happening more than I understand why we are still in Iraq.

I only buy that from a crocked gas station. That is a 31% hike overnight ($2.60 x 31% = $3.40). That would translate into the price of a barrel of oil going from $70 to $91 overnight and that has not happen yet.

Oil has been bouncing around from $68 - $70 per barrel. Of course the cost of a barrel is not the only thing that reflects the price at the pump but it is another indicator.

Just to make my point most the gas stations, well all but one, are charging around $2.55 - $2.60 per gallon (87) they went up about 0.03 cents.

The one nearest my home went up Monday from $2.54 to $2.65 and today it went up to $2.81 (87) no one else has raised their prices more then a few cents. This tells me the owner of this station is a real jackass who is taking advantage of his “former” customers.

Personally I will never buy fuel there again and I didn’t see any vehicles there filling up this afternoon but rather at the station down the road that is still currently charging $2.58 (87).

So I don’t for a minute buy gasoline raising 0.80 cents overnight not unless it is a crook that is looking to screw over people on purpose…

As much as I feel for your stand about the gas station owner, I don't understand how you can place zero blame on oil companies, but blame this guy. Of all the people making money on this, the retailer hasn't increased profit at all. I agree that the gas stations should not take advantage, neither should oil companies that are making BILLIONS per quarter, and BILLIONS more than they made last year. The first oil company to take some of the heat with us, will gain at least one customer for life (I'm not really worried about having to own up to that).

"There is at least 1 million barrels per day (could be closer to 1.5 million) of refinery capacity that is down right now. I don't know if it is due to refinery damage, however I know that some refineries are underwater and the remainder are without power. When you figure out that 1 million barrels equals 42 million barrels of refined products, thats a ****load."

From a guy I know that works for an Oil type company....

With the recent hurricane, expect it to go up more.

Many rigs are destroyed or damaged in the gulf. 40% of the gasoline is refined around BR and NO and you probably know about Katrina.

I think they said gas is going for $2.60 whole sale and it usually sells for .60 more than that depending on your area.

I just filled up both of my pickup trucks at $2.549 per gallon, one or two places are already jumping up 10-15 cents in price. Then I filled up my new (to me) bucket truck with diesel, cost me $97.50. Not too bad but I just put $150 in it last Thursday.
