Do me a favor... Go away. I didn't start this thread to hear some idiot tell me I was at fault for "chasing him down", especially when the only facts that have been stated clearly contradict your "interpretation" of the events. There's a difference between verbally assaulting someone and damaging someone's property. It's a shame you can't recognize the distinction. I should be given a medal for not choking the kid to death... You sir... die please. This forum, and the world in general, will be better for it.

Anyhow, as much as I appreciate the suggestions made by some as to how I should handle the situation should it reoccur, does anyone have any suggestions for finding a replacement bumper? Aftermarket or factory? Thanks!
You should have killed him so both of you idiots would be off the road. He would be dead and you would be in prison. Two less idiots driving on the streets would be a good thing.

As far as finding a bumper, check a wrecking yard or go to a body shop.

Wow....loose grip on reality. Over reacting a little arent you? Die? I took your story at face value and understood your anger. After this post I'm wondering if there wasn't a cat and if your distance was too short...riding his bumper maybe?

Good lord relax....

Had you been driving with the proper following distance you would have not hit him in the A$$.

I don't blame the kid if you was yelling at me I would have done the same thing.....And per your request I am now leaving this thread.

Glad I could make someone laugh.

Now, can I try to restate something... I was not behind him. He swerved in front of me and slammed his brakes. There was no "safe braking distance" to take into account. Are you people just not reading my opening post? OK, OK... suggesting that a forum member go "die" was a little extreme, but it was said in jest. I don't actually want someone dead because of their ignorant comments. My apologies to those it may have offended.

Sucks about your truck man..

Today I was coming home from school. Its a 3 lane road including two turning lanes. The middle lane which goes straight was backed up. Theres a gas station on the right and your not aloud to pull out of the gas station and go left because of situations just like this. So Im coming up going down the left turning lane and some ******* in a white Jeep goes as slow as he can across into the other lane. I had to slam on my brakes and I honked at him so what does he do? He yells 'hey **** you!' and stops his Jeep and opens the door like he was going to do something I put the ole F-150 in park and opened my door and got out. Soon as I got out with my blue Maglight he jumped in his Jeep and peeled out. Funny was because about 5 secounds later in my rear view mirror, I saw a State Trooper pull him over.

Fair enough... I understand that there are people in this world that are complete cowards and would rather damage someone's property than confront them face to face... I didn't expect to find one in this thread, but thanks for sharing.

I agree with you whole-heartedly. What I said to the kid was wrong... not telling him to slow down, but telling him I would stick my foot in his **** was uncalled for. But people, we were in a state of emergency. If I didn't say anything to that kid, he may have kept speeding and killed someone further down the road. There were no traffic lights working and this kid was racing up the street. I am not ashamed of confronting some idiot who isn't taking other people's safety into consideration. If we all put pressure on the idiots we see on a daily basis, specifically when they are endangering the lives and property of others... arrr... nevermind. I am just in disbelief that someone would read my story and say that I was following too closely.

Ps. In the state of Florida, there is a presumption of negligence when the a driver rear-ends another driver, but the presumption can be rebutted when it can be demonstrated that the accident resulted becasue of the "sudden stop by a preceding driver at a time and place where it could not reasonably be expected by the following driver..."

I sure hope the cops at least wrote up an accident report on it. Its hard to believe they "ruffed the kid up" and then practicaly congradulated you on hitting him and then gave you the option of how you wanted the accident wrote up based on your word against his.

I would sure love to be the kids lawyer....I think he could be looking at a pretty decent pay day.

Well minus_13,

I am not going to go down to your level with some smug reply.

We would both handle situations differently.

And to answer your question about the bumper...try www.martinsauto.com
I got alot of parts from them to rebuild my 99. Shoot them an email for a quote on what you need.
