Ever built a dune buggy?

When I was in Mexico I saw quite a few fiberglass bodied dune buggies. But there was one that was a bit different. Instead of the standard fiberglass body, it was (apparently fiberglass also) more like an old style convertible bug. It had fenders and such more like an actual bug...

I've been looking around since I got back, but can't find anything like it...

just curious if anyone has ever built one, and if anyone knows anything about this other style body I saw...

I've always wanted to build...

Dune buggy's were all over the place when I was a kid back in the 70's. I haven't personally seen one outside of "Cabo" in awhile though -- kind of a fad that died out with other 70's icons!

My neighbor had one that had to be started from behind with a pull-cord. Engine started, throttle stuck, dune buggy blew through the closed garage door and went out over the steep embankment -- the end of our dune buggying!
