I'll bet the police are watching him, and he'll never be heard from again. It is creepy though. It would be very wise for your freind to tell the police that he is worried about it and ask for them to watch closely. The truth is, you never know anybody. The guy you walk by at Walmart could be looking at your hot wife and want to follow you home and have his way with her. Just never know these days. If he's going to live his life in fear he needs to move a remote area of the country.

Edit - Don't know what made me look, I don't have any kids and I'm single. Went to the Maryland sex offense registry and found out my next door neighbor behind my home is a sex offender. They list offenses by group. SHE is in this group.

There is a website for offenders in Texas, that allows you to put in your zip code, and it'll tell you how many offenders are in your neighborhood.

"Sex Offender" has a broad stroke in Texas- everything from urinating in public, to sex in public places, to rape, all falls under the statute of "Sex Offender", and all those people's nakes are on that website.

Some placed, I hear, even make them put a sign in their yard saying "Registeres Sex Offender"...

The fact that they put the address of the people up is amazing- this got one guy beat to death in south Dallas, and...... It was the wrong guy. The Offender that used to live there had moved, and- when the vigilantees came, they beat the wrong guy up...

Found another 2 streets down from me since my last update.

 

We looked him up on that site earlier, and it just said rape. But as I said earlier that could possibly mean consentual sex with a minor or... he stalked, beat up, broke into a home or anything else to get to her... or even to get to "him".

 

A few weeks back some other forum had a similar discussion.

One of the posters had/has a good friend that is a registered sex offender. Got busted for consentual sex with a minor. The kicker is he didn't know she was under age because she had a fake ID, which was brought up in court but still didn't let him off the hook. So he carded her and still has to live with the sex offender title.


Details of the offense makes a huge difference as the above example shows.

Captain Oblivious makes an excellent point. Consentual sex with a 17 year old is identical in the eyes of the law with stalking and gang raping a complete stranger. Talk about a screwed up system!
The 'explosion' of identified and labeled sex offenders does not indicate an increase in the number of sex offenders. It only indicates society's lack of tolerance and willingness to stick a label on anyone they can. There is no need to confront your neighbor, just tell your daughters to stay away from him. I personally believe that half the 'sex offenders' are guys who had consentual sex with willing underage girls (many of which lie about their age) and then got slammed with a 'gotcha' due to a change of heart by the girl. Many women are lying, conniving, evil b!tches who will say and do anything to get their way. Even if it means ruining the life of an innocent man who she has banged.

I thinkt he whole statutory rape thing is bull****. I can see if a 30-year old is having sex with a 13-year old or something, we've got problems, but it sucks they say that at age 18 a woman (or man I suppose) suddenly has the ability to make all the right decisions, etc. while at 17 1/2, they didn't and if they had sex it MUST be because they were forced into it. Not that I'm trying to score with any high schoolers or anything cause thats not the case, but I remember thinking about it when I was 18 or 19 and dating girls younger than that.
I think they should just use a formula, for example, the one I find to work the best is twice your age minus 10 is acceptable. So if your 15 (15x2=30-10=20 a 20-year old would be acceptable. If you are 30, then a 50 year old is acceptable, and so forth. This formula begins around age 14. Kids younger than that shouldn't be doin it anyways.

I see a lot of girls, who I assume to be young, but these girls have more T and A than a lot of teh grown women I know... Were I a single man, and they didn't have anything, or say anythign that tipped me off that they were underage; judging by body shape & appearance; I wouldn't blink an eye before diving in.

And, some even have fake ID's...

It's bad to get labled as an offender if you fall prey to a girl that looks older than she is.. Or if someone catches you peeing behind the building, or laying pipe in the Albertson's parking lot or at a Rest Stop off of I-20 near Tyler (Not that I've ever done that). But, if you set out to tag a teen (under 18) then, well- you deserve what you've got coming to you...
