Hemi....damn you!!!

I just heard that the local dodge dealer is selling 05 1500 Hemi's for $12,000. I am thinking of taking my truck in that is only 2 months old to see if I can get a deal. I am debating on it because I have already started to mod my truck but then I just drove my g/f's mom's ram truck 4.7 and it being bone stock still feels just a touch faster than mine. So I dont know if I should cancel my af1 order and go Hemi shopping or just stick to ford.

I've got one. My advice to you, keep your Ford unless you wish to be unhappy like me. I know from first hand experience that the Ram is not what one would consider a quality vehicle.

I'm counting the days until I'm back in a Ford Truck.

After driving my Stepbrothers Hemi Ram and compared it to my Scab, I'll take my truck any day of the week. The power is nice, the inteior feels cheap and like it was about to break off whenever I touched a dial or Switch, Gas mileage worse than my truck. My stepbrother is trading his truck in for a Ford as soon as he gets back from Iraq.

Thumbs down

The HEMI engine is nice, but just remember it comes wrapped in a Dodge. Too bad you have to take the sweet with the sour.

Not to mention weekly fillups of premium. Keep the Ford, you'll be happier in the long run!

There's some people on here with RC 5.4's that are hauling ba!!s. I know 04on20s and a couple more are. Gears, tune, intake, exhaust they really wake up.

Speed......why is that so important to a lot of people here?

It's a truck. I would rather ride in comfort, and know I am in a reliable truck, then to have the "faster one". Always remember, there will be someone with a faster truck somewhere. Just keep in mind you have a better looking, more reliable, and better riding truck then the Dodge. Hemi is a good engine, but so is an inline 6.

Question is, why are they selling a $20k truck for $12k???

Dealer must still have a bunch on the lot and his '06's are comming in!

Why does he still have a bunch of '05's on the lot ??

Hummm.....

Mitch

The lower price is prolly due to 3 reasons.

1. They are getting ready to bring the 06's and need to get the 05's off the lot.
2. They are doing that silly little employee discount thing like GM.
3. combo of 1&2.

That employee discount thingy is a little fishy to me. I almost bought a Trail Blazer for my wife. Dont get me wrong the price was nice for a fully loaded TB. (23K I think) but the interest rate was gonna be 9%.

I got 1.9% on my awesome FORD

Yeah, if they don't screw you one way, they'll get you another...

The interest rate on teh Crown Vic, when I looked at it, was gonna be 6.9%...

I got 0.0% on my 2003 Expy, and I'd gotten 0.9% on the 2000 I had...

You'll never really win...
------------------------------------

I suggest you buy the Ram. $12,000 for a Ram 1500, especially if it's a crew cab, is awesome.

The Dodge will serve you well- I know plenty of guys with them, and I've heard no complaints- only relentless taunts to me in my F-150... "You wanna run that thing?"

I read Motor Trend, so I know who not to mess with; but I have run it a few times... The truck land/speed record is in no jeopardy...

Nonono...my truck is the fastest truck in the world. I bet it would almost run a 15.XX. Nobody in the history of trucks has ever ran a 15.XX.

I understand wanting to have a fast truck. It is very fun. The fun to me comes from working on it and knowing "I did that" Jamz you hit the nail on the head, somebody will always have one faster. I used to drive a '65 Chevy II with a big block that one of my older neighbors owned. He owned 2 cars and let me drive one of them. When I first started, I wanted to beat everything that lined up next to me. I would get upset if somebody "treed" me or I broke out or anything. One night I was at Dyersburg, TN and there was like 50 cars in the foot break class and I made it down to the final 2 cars. I was on fire that night. I still have the timeslips. Five 6.06 E.T.'s (1/8 mile) right in a row, and good reaction times to boot!! The guy that I was racing offered to split the money with me (common practice) and we'd see who won. I declined because I was on fire that night, and of course he spanked my little a$$ like a beeotch. The total purse that night was like $1,500 for 1st and 2nd place. I brought home $200 instead. I was furious, and it was all my fault.

After that the guy that owned the car sat down with me and said "Why are you doing this, aren't you having fun?" Then it clicked to me. I wasn't John Force. I had let myself get so wrapped up in being the fastest, most consistent one that I had forgotten to have fun. I realized I would never be a John Force, and then it became fun again. After that I would run my super slow 2000 F150 in a trophy class at George Ray's here in town. I hardly ever won because I wouldn't cheat like everybody else did with Nitrous, headers etc. I had more fun running that 10 second 1/8 mile pickup than I ever did that super fast, sweet ride Chevy II. So if you want to race, keep it all in perspective. Even John Force and the big dogs get beat sometimes. Race and enjoy vehicles because you like the cars and the people, not because you want to be the fastest one.

Keep your Ford, make it as fast as you can REASONABLY afford. Don't neglect other parts of your life to go .5 faster!! Have fun!! It's not worth it any other way.

I am already in that boat cause of the xcal2 and I would say I fill up twice a week (I do about 500 mile a week). I did notice though that her moms 4.7 was really bad on gas compared to my truck we used a little less than half a tank of gas on a trip that was about 40-60 miles. Like I said to it was just a touch faster than me.

Is your truck a 4wd screw? My buddy has a RC 2wd '03 with a 4.7 and I've out ran him everytime I've raced him.

No I got a f150 stx 4.6 falreside, awsome looking truck. The performance was just really below what I wanted from it, though with the xcal2, it really came to life but then the exhaust slowed me down, I had a lost a lot of torque. Now I have af1 on the way and I am thinking of doing 4.10's or e-fans.

Okay...well there is quite a bit of difference in the 4.6 and the 5.4. Gears would really wake it up though. You've just gotta decide what your goals are. If you wanna go flat out as fast as possible you may wanna get a Hemi. I will say that Hemi's don't respond as well to mods from what I hear. There's still some left in your 4.6 if you want to spend the money. You've also got to think that if they are selling new vehicles that cheap, yours is going to be cheap to them also. What year is your truck?
