How to clean DPFE to clear P0401 code

Greetings,

Does anyone know how to clean the Ford DPFE sensor? After about 40,000 miles it gets clogged w/ carbon and goes bad. I didn't want to spray any solvents in there until I got the blessing from those who KNOW what they're doing!!!

GJN

I'd post this in the engines forum and see if anybody says anything.

You clean it by replacing it with a new one.

I have to agree with Quintin (he's usually right any how). Even if you could remove the carbon, you would never remove enough of it with a spray, you would have to scrape it out. Doing this would scratch the surface, making it collect deposits even faster. There is a problem with SOME modular engines where after 80-100k deposits clog the channel around the throttle body, maybe the information got a little confused along the way.
