I need computer help
Well, Its time for me to format my hard drive. The operating system is Windows xp. What are the steps to format it, then reinstall windows. I want to do a fresh start. Thanks in advance.
Make sure your BIOS is setup to boot form CD-ROM....(hit either F1, F2 or DELETE keys when you boot up)....the option is in the SET-UP of the BIOS somewhere...just search and ye shall be rewarded...good luck...

Nah, XP will run on a slow machine. My Father in law runs it on a p3 733 with 384 megs of ram. If you're planning on running a bunch of stuff I would recommend putting at least up to 512MB of ram in any machine with XP on it.
Win2000 is good too and doesn't need quite as much memory to run well. (not as much fluff in it)

Yep, my mother-in-law had it on a 450 MHz with 512 MB of RAM, much better than I thought it would be, I asked because a while ago he was having issues with a Win 98 PC.
The windows 98 pc was a completely different machine. It is my 8 year old sisters computer. The one im talkin about now is mine. It can definitely handle xp. The 98 p.c. is workin good. And now im finished re-doing mine, so its all good too. Thanks guys.
