I need computer help

Well, Its time for me to format my hard drive. The operating system is Windows xp. What are the steps to format it, then reinstall windows. I want to do a fresh start. Thanks in advance.

get your windows disk, put it in, and follow the steps to do a full system reformat/install

Yea it is really easy.

Boot off of the CD...install (dont upgrade) delete the existing partion and recreate it.

Make sure your BIOS is setup to boot form CD-ROM....(hit either F1, F2 or DELETE keys when you boot up)....the option is in the SET-UP of the BIOS somewhere...just search and ye shall be rewarded...good luck...

if u have a windows 98 PC i doubt u will be able to meet the min requirements for windows XP id recomend finding windows 2000 more stable then XP and pretty much same OS except XP looks purdy

Nah, XP will run on a slow machine. My Father in law runs it on a p3 733 with 384 megs of ram. If you're planning on running a bunch of stuff I would recommend putting at least up to 512MB of ram in any machine with XP on it.

Win2000 is good too and doesn't need quite as much memory to run well. (not as much fluff in it)

Yep, my mother-in-law had it on a 450 MHz with 512 MB of RAM, much better than I thought it would be, I asked because a while ago he was having issues with a Win 98 PC.

The windows 98 pc was a completely different machine. It is my 8 year old sisters computer. The one im talkin about now is mine. It can definitely handle xp. The 98 p.c. is workin good. And now im finished re-doing mine, so its all good too. Thanks guys.

min requirements for XP are 300mhz 64mb ramm and 250mb HD space i think.... recomended is 128mb and 600mhz processor and atleast a gig
