What the heck is this thing?

My cousin works for the BLM and I know some of the biologists there. If you send the pics as an email attatchment I can fwd them on. Include where you found it, size and anything else you think might be important.

seriously, I'd call x-files.
If you didn't say your friends took the picture I'd just say it was some goofster making props or something on the internet, but wow, to find that out in nature... hmm... my guess is some sort of ocean or lake/river sponge or other plant life that died and washed ashore, but I dont really know, I have never seen anything like it. I'd stick it in a cooler and take it to the nearest news station, get that sucker on the air and start collecting checks from people who want to observe it

Stu, I dont have them in an email but if you right click and save the images you can attach them into an email if you want.

I sent the pics to my cousin. He's in the field right now so no one will see them for at least a couple days. Im in Montana next week so I find out when I get back. By then you might have already got an answer from someone else.

CrAz3D, As far as I know they left the thing on the side of the river so they cant really cut it open. But to be honest I wouldnt cut the think. What if you get some sort of disease or something. LOL
