Need to vent about dealership (service)

Okay, I need to scream at someone.....

I took my truck in at 7am to get a few things checked out:

1 - a/c doesn't blow cold
2 - rotors may be warped
3 - stereo display is funky
4 - rear sliding window doesn't open on first push of the button all the time

So anyhoo, at 2pm I call the guy to find out what's going on with the truck. He tells me it's with the brake guy now and that they can't get to the other stuff today and asks if I can leave it overnight. Okay for one, the truck had been there 7 fawking hours and NOTHING has been looked at except the brakes and they JUST got into the bay to be looked at? So I ask assclown about a rental car and he informs me that one is not covered under regular warranty, only extended. Okay WTF???? Anytime my Yukon XL was in the shop they offered a rental car and I didn't have an extended!!! UGH! Anyhoo...... so I tell jackass that I have no way to get home and need my truck. He tells me to call back in a couple of hours to get a better estimate of time.

1 1/2 hours later I call the b@stard back and leave a vm. It's 3:30pm at this point. I am going to need someone to take me there or the shuttle and I explain this on his vm. Fawker calls back at 4:10pm to tell me they are going to replace the rotors but the rotors won't be in until tomorrow. Okay fine, just send the shuttle over to get me (5 minutes away driving). "Oh sorry, the shuttle stopped running at 3:30pm." WTF ARE YOU FAWKING KIDDING ME???? I told him I have NO way to get there now, that my ride left at 4pm and I was counting on the shuttle. He told me to call him back in 40 minutes and he might be able to get a parts kid to come get me. I told him that I have a son in daycare and I cannot leave this town any later than 5pm to be able to get my kid at daycare. He said that there's nothing he can do.

Luckily my hubby was able to leave work early and is on his way to get our son now, and then to come get me.

I hated the service department the first few time i took my truck there the guy was a real *****. So the next time i went up to him and asked for him to find me somebody else, so he does and the next dude is awesome, i told him i wasnt happy and i didnt like the other guy and this is why. This jacka$$ told me they werent gonna even try to fix the vibe and that i should just buy a leveling kit.
Hes been really helpful and taking the truck in is no prob no more.
Morale of the Story
Just Bitch allot.

Dealers suck. Even when they are doing work for 'free' under warranty, many times the cost is more than just having someone else do the work for a fair price.

I have been burned by Ford Service in the Past... Advantage ...When I the Crispy critter would enter the service bay with my lemons in the grill, They would run, faster than you can drive any Ford...after a while, I just did not care...Thier problem to keep me happy, not my problem to keep them servicing my Lemon cart...Now I changed to a new Ford dealer that My family has all bought from, my 04 has had hic ups and I have been well looked after...This weekend I had to go to Maclin Ford here in calgary for warenty work on my brakes, I deal with Universal, But I could not get my truck in a weekday, Universal will give me a loaner, any how Maclin did good...Stay with a Ford dealer that has one lot and that is not running two or three car lot's else were, be polite and persistant..This time arround on my f-150 I have been treated excellant....Find two Ford dealer's with good reputations and let them compete for your $$$$$$$$.

Racerchick, our service department is now open till 9 PM Mon-Fri and is open on Sundays too. We're the only Ford dealer in California doing that. Come on down and see us, if you're up for a road trip. Aren't you up there in Nor Cal?

Boy, that makes me feel good about my dealership. The service dept. is open till midnight Mon. thru Thrus. They also give me a loner vehicle if they have my vehicle over night, because I bought it from them.

It may be possible to get a vehicle cheaper at a different dealership but to me a good service dept. is more important than the lowest price.

I always take my vehicles in to Koetting Ford here in Granite City, IL...Their service managers have always treated me well. It sucks reading some of the threads on here that describe all the crappy treatment from dealers and service departments. I guess I should count myself as lucky that there is a good service department that I can go too.

Racer: I would ask around the board for members in your area to suggest a good dealer to take your truck to. In my opinion, I could care less how good a sales department is (that is their job)...I am only concerned in how good the service department is (since I will be dealing with them more often).

Good luck with the truck.

Thanks guys. I only went to this dealership because it's close to my work. I didn't buy from them because I got a cheesy sales clown who tried to tell me that a clunk in the tranny going from 1st to 2nd is just the "break-in" noise. Uh yea.... funny, cuz' no other truck I drove did that.... assclowns!

Anyhoo, after this ordeal I am going to take my truck to the dealership I bought it from, Future Ford in Roseville, CA. They have been wonderful to deal with in the past and I am just going to have to deal with the distance from work and work something out.

I will post later today after I find out what they're doing to my truck. See what other anxiety they can cause me.....

My salesman always gives me a new car to drive when I go in for repairs. I'm going for a "test drive" ... Even fills it up , too.

All dealerships are different. The one I go to doesnt offer a car for me, but I have a work truck that I can drive, and they get the work done that day. On the other hand, there is another dealership that is further away and is always offering a vehicle no matter what. The moral of the story is that it all depends on the dealerships and how they do business. Hope you got everything fixed by now.

Well apparently it takes 3.5 hours to swap out rotors. DID YOU KNOW THIS? It's funny because I can change them quicker than that, and that's using a fricken floor jack and hunting through my garage for all the damn tools.

UGH!

So anyhoo, update is that it's in getting the a/c and window and stereo looked at now, and the rotors will be in by 1pm and the truck should be ready by 4:30pm. I'm not holding my breath.....

Can someone find me a smilie of a girl shooting a service analyst?

I had the same problems you describe when I took my truck in for warranty service at a dealer that I did not buy from. This only happened 1 time because Ford Motor Company sends a comment card asking about your warranty experience every time you take it in for work. I wrote a book about them keeping the truck for 5 days completing minor repairs and then not providing a loaner. The very next time I had it in, they said "It's going to be about 3 hours. Would you like a loaner?" They have treated me very well ever since. Maybe my computer record says "a$$hole" at the top. Good luck!
