Nice truck. The only thing I dont like about the Dodges (two things) are the outdated front end (it still looks like it did in 95), and the half-size rear doors on the crew cab. Just for reference sake, I sell Fords for a living and the F-250/F-350 4 door is referred to as a "Crew Cab" NOT a "SuperCrew." The only Ford vehicle that is officially a SuperCrew is the F150 4-door 01+. Good luck with that CTD...I hear they make SICK power.

Talk about an emotional buy..........

Remember there are always two sides to every story. All I can say is
a Dodge is CHEAPER than a Ford every time. You don't get what you don't pay for. Compared to the Ford Superduty, the Dodge 2500 is just second rate in every way except for the cummins, which is a decent motor. The suspension, interior, steering, handling, brakes, and build quality is lacking compared to FORD. Just because they didn't coddle and suck up to you, you go out and buy a Dodge, thats pretty weak.
If you really wanted a Ford, you would have bought one regardless.
I have a feeling there is more to the story than you are telling us.

Congrats on the new truck. Be careful of the payload for the 2500 CTD, though. only 2100 pounds, compared to the 2500 Hemi which is 700 pounds more. The 3500 CTD is only $175 more and provides much more payload which is very useful for fith wheel trailers.

Fords losing a lot of customers due to customer relations. Its really going to start hurting their sales. They might of lost me as a Ford customer even and I hate to say that. I've been to many dealers and got the same treatment. The run-around like I don't know what Im talking about or they tell me they can't duplicate the problems. I love making payments on a truck thats in the shop...

Congrats on your new truck but...

To buy a Dodge and leave Ford because some jerk made that comment is nuts to me. The same guy who said that may have worked for Dodge 2 weeks earlier. Lose the dealership fine but the product itself?

Whatever makes you happy but basing a $25k plus decision because some nimrod insulted you is a little strange.

Just say you bought the truck cause you liked it and leave it at that.

Anyway...congrats....

You can't patronize the customer and expect them to buy your product. If someone treated me that way, I wouldn't hesitate to shop a competitor's product. As is the case in any profession, you will find intelligent and not so intelligent salespeople at all dealerships. If you can find a salesperson that you have a good rapport with, then you will be a customer for life. I have found that the best dealerships are those small town dealers. Even though I live in a town of around 200,000 people, I drove to my brother's hometown of less than 5,000 people to buy my truck. They treated me with respect and offered me more for my truck on trade-in than the big city dealers. I am sure this is not always the case and I am sure that the big dealers could offer the same service, but I doubt they would have the same percentage of repeat customers.

Oh yeah, congrats on the new Dodge. I have a friend that has a Dodge Cummins and he dogs it day in and day out. If it can take his punishment, then it can probably take anyones.

Melrose, having been a Ford man all my life, I had a similar experience in 2002. I mean, I have raced Fords, restored Mustangs and old pickups, currently had an Expedition, a 65 Fastback and a 1954 pickup. The Ford guys treated me like an idiot. So, I went across the street and bought an 02 Silverado Ext Cab. That was a great truck. For 75,000 miles, I spent only for gas and oil changes. I decided to buy a new truck last March rather than keep the Chevy for 2 or 3 more years. I went to the Chevy dealer and ran into another dumbard salesperson that just ignored what I was telling him. Plus, the 2005's were dated looking but price was higher. My wife convinced me to go give the Ford dealer across the steet another shot, maybe they had improved. I went over, they had what I wanted, and the sales guy was very sharp. We made a deal in about an hour. I love my Ford truck, but salespeople can make you sick. They treat you like an idiot for the most part. I expect them to make a profit off me, they have to to stay in business. But, they don't have to rape me. Treat me right and I will be back for both service and more vehicles.

I said all this to say, yep, I know where you are coming from with the frustration. Good luck with the Dodge!

I have not walked into a BlockBuster Video outlet for over 11 years because a snotty nosed, pimple faced (supposedly manager) treated me with disrespect. And I would do the same with any other vendor whether it be movie rental or food or cars/Trucks. I, as a customer will decide where I spend the money that I actually work for. The feeling and self respect you get inside when you can stick with a decision like that, you can't get anywhere else.

More power to Ya Melrose.

PS: I also buy my Ford vehicles from a dealership in my home town of 15,000 people that is 150 miles away rather than my local dealership of a city of 150,000 people. This local dealership treated me like ***** the very first time I went there in 1993 and I never did buy a vehicle from them.

Granted but the Blockbuster boycot aint the same as the Ford fallout...

It woudl be like blaming Sony Movie studios because blockbuster screwed up.

Drop the dealer but dropping Ford because some goof at a poor dealership insulted you doesnt make sense to me. I wouldn't buy an inferior product just to spite some dealership.

Now if you like the Dodge better great....

YEah- those sales guys ALWAYS talk ***** about their customers...

I walked out to look at a HD F-150 (When the two-tones one came out) and over heard two salesmen talking...

"His dumbass is gonna tell me that he's going to have to pass on the Mustang because he couldn't afford a $550.00 car note and $220.00/month on Insurance... I said to my self- 'Your broke @$$ just can't afford this car.' Man, people don't pass on a Mustang just because the insurance is expensive."

Now, either they didn't see me, or didn't care that a customer (who for all they know, could have known the guy that was buying the Mustang) was close enough to hear what was being said.
--------------------------------
One talked smack about me- but he wasn't my salesman- he was another salesman- and my Mother-in-law heard them and jumped his ****. I'd just bought my 2003 Expedition, but told them I wanted the rims off my 2000 Expedition- since they weren't giving me anything for them. My salesman and finance MGR was cool with that. THey salesman they had drive my car over to the service department to remove my rims, was not pleased.

Mother-in-Law was in the Lobby with my 14-y/o at the time; and over heard him say- "Whoever heard of a ni**a wanting to take the rims off their old vehicle?" My mother in law told him- "Well, you just heard it today, ni**a!" (He was black too) She told him some other stuff, according to her and little-man, but I was not near where they were.

I signed the papers, went and they loaded up my old 20's- I gave them the 17's- and we went home.

Now, had I heard that- I'd have either gotten more money off on that new truck, or had that SOB fired- because even though we're both black- that fool didn't know me like that... What's more important- that's just poor customer service that COULD have cost them a sale.

I'll call a mettign with the GM, FM, SM and sales person... I did it before when one of their sales people accused me of lying to him when I told him that Red McCombs Ford was selling SuperCrew XLT's for $24,000 when they wanted $29,999 for the same truck. He said "I think you're lying." I said- WTF do I have to lie to you about? Then he said- Well, if you can find a SuperCrew in Texas for that price- bring it to me- I want to see it.

We went down there and we got the SuperCrew for $23,999. I brought it back to Dallas from San Antonio with Red McCombs badges all over it. I parked it in the front entrance to their dealership- went in and demanded a meeting with the GM, FM Sales MGR and the salesman that called me a liar.

The salesman wasn't there that day- but we met, they looked over our papers and apologized for what had happened repeatedly... I never saw that salesman up there again.

Of course, I heard none of this until after we'd left.

No.... actually there's not more to the story. The ignorant boy opened his mouth when he shouldn't have. Whether he was talking about me or another customer, I would still consider it bad service. I consider that representative of Ford.
I stuck with my decision, I wasn't going to buy something while being talked about in that manner. It's not coddling, it's respect. I didn't owe Ford anything after motor replacement, plug wires being loosened and poor maintenance.
I guess you could say, overall experience changed my tast.

I do miss the style of the Fords. And I don't know why all the CTDs are red.

Thanks for the kudos from those that gave them.

As for the problems with your truck i feel for you i hate having anything go wrong with my truck. However if you Bitch long enough theyll do it .
The problems ive had with my truck have been few and far between. I love my truck and before i bought it i compared everything. My mom has MS and the Ford was the only truck she could get in comfortably and easily+ it was the only one that was quiet and smooth enough.
Hows this for reliability.
In one year my truck has been in the shop combined less than a week.
In 3 years the Porsche has been in about a month.
Our old Caddy never went in for antyhing other than oil changes in 9 years.
And im not even gonna mention the other

I can say this....

Brinson Ford in Athens will never get anything from me or anyone I know personally.

I had a water leak in the passenger side floor. Brought it in one evening on my way home from work, dropped it off, then took my wifes hooptie azz KIA to work the next day. Well, my wife needed my truck after work. So, she was gonna go pick it up for me. She calls Brinson Service and they tell her that there is no white 2004 STX Heritage on their lot. The lady in the service department was really rude to my wife. That pissed me off royally. (How the *** does a dealership loose a truck?)

I take off work, and go talk to these people, and they still denied having my truck. I wallked out the door with the manager, and pointed to my truck and asked, "What color is that truck?" He said, "white". I asked Is that an STX Heritage" He said, "Yes". Can I have my truck back? Then, he asked me, "Do you want us to fix the brake problem first?"

Brake problem, brake problem, WTF ! ! !

Give me my keys. I'll drive 50 miles to Tyler Ford, you MORON.

I feel better now.
