Raced a Dodge 1500 - And Lost!
Stop light race - dead start - Dodge was the new body style, I would guess an 05, looked very stock, exhaust an all.
I have a 4.6 l SuperCrew 03
- Magnaflow Single Out
- Performance Tune SuperChips
- KN FIPK
Right off the bat he jumped my by 1/2 truck and held it - Around 50 he took me by another full length of a truck! at 70 I let off because of congested area.
ARGH!
I forgot to take overdrive off... Wonder if that would help!
That sucked by the way.

What cab configuration was the Dodge? If it was a reg cab you deserve it. If it was a 4 door he probably had 3.93:1 gears.

Ford didn't make a Super Crew in 97. But even stock VS stock the Hemi Dodge will beat the F-150. Excluding the Lightning. We are talking 1997 technology vs 2005-6. What do you expect. With all my bolt on I am at about the same power level that a 2006 F-150 starts with. Now I know how the pre 97s felt when the new style 97s came out.

It depends. If it's the regular 4.7L, without the HO cams, it's probably making about 235 HP and 295 FT-LB of torque. When I owned mine, I didn't exactly 'spank' F150's, but I noticed that while the F150 definitely has the edge on torque in the upper RPM's, the Dodge tends to make most of its torque in the lower end. I used to routinely beat F150's off the line, and hold it just enough to beat them, although not by more than 1/2 to 1 truck length. I own a 2004 F150 now, and with my muffler, I can just 'barely' keep even with some of them, and lose to the rest, although by not a lot.
If it's the HO Cams, they're putting down 260HP, and unless the 4.6L is modded pretty well, it's not going to stand a chance against the 4.7L with the HO Cams.
