He probably figured with all of these "kills" in here, he could take it.

Yeah, 'cept all the kills have been modded 5.4s and the big kills are going to the reg cab 4x2 5.4L guys. Then there is CIA with his wicked fast 4.6...

When I had my 99 Dodge Quad Cab and was looking at the new ones, the sales guy told me that the 4.7 engines were faster off the line than the Hemis. He said that the Hemi would catch up in the long run but off the line the 4.7 was the quicker truck.

yeah, the 'magnum' engines got more punch off the line but those hemis can catch up with their much stronger top-end. This helped me kill my hemi in my light-to-light race with one. I've been told on a freeway roll I'd get my **** kicked by a hemi... although I have yet to find one..

From what I understand, that's true. The 4.7L in and of itself is a pretty strong engine. I *HATED* the transmission that it was coupled to, but the engine itself was very strong. It's almost like they took the same transmission (and they did) and retarded it even more before pairing it with the Hemi.

Whenever I see differences like that, I think about cams and breathing. It's not the hemi-shaped chambers making all that torque.

yeh my friend robert has a rumble bee and i can take emm off the line put about 3 car lengths on em then when i get to about 80mph which is where my truck tends to stop pullin. then he passes me and puts about 5 cars on me cause those hemi's build power up top and my HP peaks at 4,020RPM....

Don't feel bad. I lost to a 93 Chev 350 (210 hp) 4x4 loaded with hunting gear. He looked stock except for extremely loud exhaust. It was about 95 degrees that day. We both mashed it at the same time and he got ahead quick enough to merge ahead of me when his lane ended after about 100 yds. I have 3.73 gears and 265/75R16 tires with my Superchip setting on 91 octane "performance". Amsoil air filter and Banks Trans-Command are my only "mods". My tires changed my effective ratio to 3.54.
