Guitar players?
If you're going cheap, do an Ibanez. While I understand your GF may be small, it's no reason to scale down. Angus Young up on a milk crate, standing on his tippy toes might make 5' tall. He plays a full size SG.
Besides, if you get her a mini, then she's stuck on that mini. If she learns, and then is out somewhere and wants to play another guitar, she'll fumble all over a standard size axe.
If you don't like the Yamaha at Sam's, then go to www.musiciansfriend.com and by a cheap Ibanez.
These are my babies.

Well, we tried out the Strat Mini today. She decided she didn't like it. It was just a little too small for her. She did like a Peavy they had (can't remember what model it was), but she's pretty much decided she wants my Ibanez Talman electric/acoustic. I love that guitar, but she wants it, and then wants me to buy whatever Fender I want. Well, I really want an American Standard, but just shouldn't be spending that much on a guitar right now, so I might end up getting this one...
It's made in Korea, but supposedly from some of the guys I've talked to and according to most of the reviews on musiciansfriend.com a very good guitar and comparable to most American Standards. If I get anything I want a natural finish, and most likely a Fender right now.
I don't know if I'll get one or not, but if I get anything right now it will be this one... and if I did then I will probably not get an American Standard any time soon. I'll wait and find a cheap Variax, and get a Strat body for it, and have it painted to match my Belvedere... Go Mango!

I took 5 years of guitar lessons when i was younger...got out of it when I got into high school, wished I had stuck with it. I still pick around some and play a little, but Im planning on getting back into it when I get back to school in a couple weeks.
Ive got 3 guitars, a Bentley concert series, a cheap acoustic that was a present (dont really play), and an older Conrad electric. Im looking to buy a good used full size acoustic sometime soon and was wondering what brands to consider/avoid.
Id kill for my uncles Les Paul edition Gibson electric (not sure what year....that thing is sweet!)
1969Mach, whats your email, i might have a couple ?'s for you.
