The "Passing Lane"
My policy is that as long as I am going faster than someone in the right lane, I will be in the left lane....if someone is coming up on my tail while in the left lane, I move to the right until I come up behind someone in the right lane again and need to move to the left....if I come up behind someone in the left lane, I will ride their tail until they move to the right lane, in which case I will pass them...I refuse to pass while in the right lane, so if the person in the left lane going slower than I want to go will not move to the right lane, I will move to the right lane, signal to the driver that they are an #$@%+$&$ and the move back to the position of tailgating them until they move to the right lane....I will cycle this process until the #$@%+$&$ moves to the right lane so I can pass.

I cut truck drivers some slack, and really can't blame them when they need to use the passing lane.
But I had one encounter that was memorable. I was coming down Interstate 5 at about 9:30 on a weeknight. Pulled over at Harris Ranch to get gas. Traffic was light, I had been averaging about 85 mph (this is normal speed when traffic is light on I-5).
Just as I was merging, I see one heavily loaded truck pulling out to pass another, about 1/4 mile in front of me. The passer was going about 55 mph and the truck being passed was going about 54.95 mph. I knew it was going to be a while, so I just reisigned myself to my fate and checked my odometer to see how long.
IT TOOK HIM 18.5 MILES to make the pass! Approximatley 20 minutes. I am not kidding. He did not intend to screw me and I was not in a hurry, so I just laughed it off. What else can you do?
On the other hand, I was once held about for about the same distance by a car that wanted to 'send a message'. Eventually the guy in the slow lane took if off cruise control and hit his brakes, and I snuck in front of him before the guy in the fast lane could brake hard enough. Man, I was furious at the guy intentionally blocking the fast lane.
