How hot is it?

I was getting ready to complain some more about how hot it's been lately, but then I just looked at Las Vegas' weather. They hit 116 today, it's currently 114 and 6% humidity. Last night's low was 93*! Un-frickin'-believable!

Here in kentucky.. it is pretty bad too..

This last week has been pretty cool with all the rain from the Hurricans coming our way... but a couple weeks ago! SHOO-WEE!!

A lot of you desert guys and costal guys/gals dont understand humidity. Humidity is the devil. When its 95 degrees and 90%+ humidity.. It's BAD! I work outside and after about an hour of work, it looks like I fell in a water puddle from all my sweat.. Shirt is soaked, shorts are soaked..

People from florida think they have bad humidity, and they do.. but they have a breeze to go along with it... Kentucky has minimal breeze..

But I understand the HOT thing.. 115 degrees is HOT!

I have friend that moved to Tubac Arizona a couple years ago... I went to visit him last summer... 115 degrees is enough to take your breath away when you walk out the door.

I dont know whats worse.

Pure Heat... of Pure Humidity.

I know working inside a non climate controlled building around running cars all day in 95 degree ambient temps with 80% humidity makes it feel like about 120 degrees.

At work last week, we put down tar paper on a house.. a large house... it was about 95 and about 85% humidity...

I thought I was gonna die! And I left a water puddle behide on the roof if I stoof in one place for a few minuted... We named em Lake Hendrix..

"Whoa, Watch you step. I left Lake Hendrix over there"

Yup, the humidity thing is taking it's toll on me as well. I can't handle it like I used to. Seems like the last week we haven't had any breeze so it's like being in a sauna. I haven't worked past 11AM all week.

An old joke told by a former co-worker went something along the lines of:
If you want a breath of fresh air, just pull out your pocketknife and cut yourself off a chunk.

LOL..

I see you had/have a Plymoth Volare.. Brings back memories.. Few years ago, right after I got my licence.. I bought a running, perfectly good 1978 Plymoth Volare from a lady for $75..

INstead of doing the smart thing of keeping it... My frineds and I spraypainted all over it. Than we took it out to the old strip mines with some friends and drove it around... Jumping hills and doing donuts in fields.. There were four holes in the headliner where our heads slammed against it.. LOL...

By far the best $75 I have EVER spent. I have never had so much fun..
Got a lot of pics of it somewhere around here.

Only 107* predicted for today. Yesterday the forecast said 109*. Humidity about 25%.

Lows have been 80* or above for about 10 days. IOTW, it's miserable.

Alright guys, all this talk about humidity is great, but when it's around 120 degrees or hotter for a week straight and the humidity picking up because of monsoon season being upon you, I don't think the humidity of the Southern states can touch it. I'm talking about the humidity, not the combination of heat/humidity. I grew up in Charleston, SC and know too well about that combo. Now, I live in one of the hottest places in the US. I hear it all the time, "But, it's a dry heat..." I don't care, dry...wet...122 degrees or hotter is is insane no matter what!!! Luckily, I have a lake fed by the Colorado River and a boat at my disposal!!! The summer is far from over here and temps are supposed to get hotter before the season is over.

PS- The hottest I've ever felt it here is 128 degrees...

Today's forecast:

Partly Cloudy
High 123°F
Precip 20%
Wind: S 12 mph
Max. Humidity: 12%
UV Index: 10+ Extreme

Sunrise: 5:39 AM MT
Avg. High: 108°F
Record High: 117°F (1989)
