Radar Detectors?
I had a V1, before this happened: (If you look real close, you can see my wire hangng down from where I had it hard wired...) God was blessing those fools that day- maybe me too. I may have gotten shot; but if they had no gun- I'd have put some serious dings in my truck with their head.... I hate thieves...

I had it hard wired- but there was no tint at the top on the 2003 Expy's to hide it, so I got robbed after leaving it up there... I thought people stopped stealing radar detectors in 1992.
So, I didn't fork out another $400 for a new V1- I got a new Escort 7500 SX as a replacement...
Now I have a 8500 in the Screw, 7500 in the Expy, a new high-end Cobra in the Honda and in the 2000 Expy. They all look fine.
No speeding tickets yet...

Eww, bummer agent.
I have a V-1 hardwired, a couple of lousy pic in the gallery.
Speeding 101:
-Radar is indiscriminant. Stay in the right lane except to pass, then immediately get back in the pack. I have had cars that I just passed get pulled over cuz they were in the hammer lane.
-Most radar is instant on. If you are alone, late at night, etc, slow it down a notch, keep the right foot twitching. Keep the wallet handy. If the detector chirps, slow it down for 4-5 minutes (that's why I like the V-1, it tells me where the bogey is.)
-A laser detector is a ticket notification device.
- The old rule was that radar couldn't lock on if you were decelerating at more than 3-5 mph per second. Hence the stomping on the brakes had some merit.
-Vehicle shape (radar cross-section) plays an important role. My old 280 zx was better than the F150. (Duh! or is it Doh!)
-Save the high velocity stuff for the highway, otherwise you're gonna get nailed, they don't have any sympathy and you aren't really saving any time.
-When the inevitable happens: 1) pull over immediately; 2) turn on flashers; 3) roll down window; 4) place both hands on wheel & wait for cop; 5) be very polite. (I've been stopped 4 times in the last 9 years, 2 tickets & 2 warnings)
Anything I miss?
Dave
