metal press brakes

So I am looking for information on metal presses. I am looking for a smaller one that I could put in my garage I know i've seen them. Looking for a hydraulic one that can bend at the max 1' width of 1/4" steel.

Could someone guide me in the direction or have information. Just looking for information and that.

I'm probably not going to be much help here, but we run a 10' brake at work that will brake up to 1/4" SS. It's a Cincinatti (sp), and a very good piece of machinery...

I would think you're talking some money though wanting to break up to 1/4"...

yeah, it's going to be very hard to find a press to bend 1/4" that will fit or be affordable for a home shop. Stuff that large doesn't really bend well anyways. What are you trying to do?

most units that can bend that thick are going to be heavy, as in a forklift and machine weight of 15,000 pound on your concrete, and will require 3 phase power as well as a nice thick concrete spot to sit on.

i have a sheer that will cut 1/4 steel and without fluid (it takes 25 gallons) it is right at 5000 pounds and it is a smaller unit that will shear 50".

if you are looking at bending smaller parts then you might be able to get by with a punch press and the tooling for doing what you want to do.

you might want to consider and ironworker

should be able to find on used and make sure it accepts the bending tooling.

You are desrcribing two different machines. A press and a brake. Generally a press is used for shearing, punching, etc. A brake is used for bending, typically sheet metal. 1/4" brake is way stout.

CFAHNER, are you looking for a leaf brake to bend straight bends, or are you looking for a press that you can put your own dies into and stamp complex shapes?
You know, stamp your own torque boxes or something like that.
