You wouldn't happen to have been on a boat in the Seine?? How often do you go to France? Parlez-vous français?

Oh yeah . . . common misperception.
Actually, I think you're thinking of Raoul.

These days I'm driving a different kind of "L"
and while many consider it the most boring looking vehicle on the planet, in a manner somewhat consistent with how you imagined my appearance, I did slap some 18" Antera 329s on her in place of the wheels the car has in this pic. That's about as close to a mohawk/radical lifestyle as I get these days.

Actually, in all the times I've been there, I've never once been on the Bateaux Mouches. Usually go around Christmas time as I have close friends there. It's a good time to go because it's not crowded and I love the cold, so it works out well. September is also a good time. Weather then is beautiful, the Parisians are back from les vacances so they are in a decent mood, and it's not as crowded as it is in spring.
Mon Français n'est pas très bon, c'est tres mal!
Je parle seulement un peu.
I rely on the linguistic skills of others.

I have been in Paris in every month except January and August. Your right, October - March the place is empty but the weather sucks, April - August the place is packed with les touristes américains. Have you ever been to La Defense at Christmas? The area in front of the La Grande Arch is set up with a bunch of small shops and vendors selling handmade stuff and food from all over Europe. Worth looking at if you get a chance.

The K man is prolly the closet person so far that my mental image matches the actual person. That starving artist/poet/thealogin look.... there was I time I thought for sure he was a chinese dude that wieghed like 75lbs and lived in his parents basement...

I used to think you were a heavy set, 6'10 guy... until I saw that refelction in your truck!
And you thought you had us fooled.
OK . . . answering these and addressing others in order . . .
Yup . . . this past Christmas we arrived on Christmas Day so it was after the fact, but here is a shot taken on Dec. 26th. Unfortunately they were clearing it away . . .
Actually, a few months after we got back from Paris, and my hair was even longer, I was in the Sav-On and a guy came up to me and said "Hey! It's George Thoroughgood! Dude! Where you been?!?!" I have no idea what George Thoroughgood looks like . . . but it was the only time I was ever mistaken for a music artist . . . long hair or no.
Damn . . . I've been found out . . . OK . . . here's my REAL picture.
Curses! I have been discovered! You round eyed, white skinned, capitalist pig! Soon, my plan for WORLD DOMINATION® will unfold!!!!! (just as soon as I get out of my Mom's basement . . . )
and while still on dzertit's comments, if you think that's the starving artist, poet, theologian, bohemian look, check out this old passport photo . . .
Yup, those were the days, good times indeed, although the "look" in that pic comes nowhere close to Rob's (over in the Lightning forum) early rock and roll band 60's pix . . . which is just . . . well, scary actually.
Actually, that pic of me at Le Trocadero/Palais de Chaillot across from the Eiffel Tower is quite scary indeed . . . It's not the best of pictures . . . I had been up for two and a half days, looked bloated, and my eyes were almost welded shut . . .however, it's a pic that was immediately on hand, there are not a lot of pix of me that exist, and it's probably the most recent of me that there is, and I finally decided to post a pic of myself . . . so there it is. If I come across a better one, I might replace that one.

This deserves its own response . . .

wolrd?
No, not a good catch . . . .
Good Lord, have none of you seen The Great Race?
THE GREAT RACE
I guess some of you young whipper-snappers don't remember, or never saw this movie.
It was great! It's a comedy about an "AUTO - MOIBLE" (The Great Leslie's pronunciation) race around the world . . . . (OK it was an automobile race billed as New York to Paris . . . but you gota travel West to do it, use icebergs, that kind of thing)
Note the continuity with the original movie poster, which is placed in front of the Eiffel Tower, and my tribute to same . . . with the Lightning . . . in front of the Eiffel Tower . . .
Very funny film, and without question Jack Lemmon's best performance ever. You gotta love Professor Fate!!! Plus Natalie Wood . . . . HOT!.
You youngins should check it out. Sorry, no aliens blowing stuff up. but you might enjoy it nonetheless.
So, 79 days around the world beats Jules Verne by one day, and the car around the world, Paris connection, is The Great Race . . .
Hey, if the Great Leslie can do it, so can I.
Edited because that whole "subject-verb" thing is important, and since I'm operating on two hours sleep I miss stuff like that.
