I think the Judge just keeps making sure these things are along the road so he will have something to do.

the judge said that it was unbelieveable that a plow could fall out of the back of my truck, i told him i had a bed liner and when i took of from a stop sign and tried to go the tires spun on ice and then got grip jerked the truck and the plow fell out. if you want to hear a noise that scares you have that happen, nothing like a 400-500 lb plow slaming into cement

dude, you took something that wasn't yours and you got caught. I know not a lot of this goes on in this country anymore, but grow up and take responsibility for it. It's called being a man...

how do you , or the judge, or the guy that took you to court know that it was his plow? maybe it was someone elses plow.

was the girl and her dad in court to testify against you?

were did this price come from?

i suspect you are from a small community and should have known better, why at 16 do you want or need a plow?

consider it a good life leason, number one, keep your mouth shut, dont take stuff that isnt yours, and most important, dont go to court unprepared. be happy no criminal charges were filed.

This is one of the strangest posts I have seen here in a long time. Frankly, both off the people involved in this fiasco are idiots...the guy who abandoned the plow by the side of the road and didn't retrieve it for a week (he DESERVED to have it stolen), and the dolt who took the plow, then got sued for it. If he pays for the plow, I hope he gets to keep it, but I don't suppose he even knows where it is by now. Please, don't either of you guys have any children, OK?

If I were the judge, I would have had lots of trouble with the 'it fell out of my truck' part of the story.

The judge probably assumed you sold the plow to somebody cheap.

If it really did fall out of your truck while driving, there are probably a bunch of traffic violations they could have charged you with.

it was very stupid to take the plow, i was going to try to use it. i did go to court prepared and in the police report the detective stated that the guy that lost the plow was lieing all the time about the dates and he couldnt get anything strait. i was very prepaired for court. the judge said that i was too prepaired and me having evidence made it look like i was trying to cover my mystake, which i was but he shouldnt have left it there for so long. i learned a really good lession from this and ill never do anything like it again.

it was abandoned the code for abandonment in my town, states any property left by the side of the road for more that 48 hours is deemed abandoned. i told the judge this and he said it doesnt work that way. the judge doesnt like kids, he works with delinquent kids.
