Thanks all.

She's a smart dog thats for sure. She has pretty muched picked up "fetch" - we call it "ball". All I have to say is "Ball Sadie, where's your ball". She will run and get it, and we'll play ball for a few minutes, but her attention span is like mine.

Sit, come, down and stay is in the works. She will sit most of the time.

Reese (1 yr old English Yellow Lab) is the same way. Hes got sit, laydown and shake no problem. He loves fetch and I think the best thing we taught him is to drop the ball or stick when he brings it back to you.
He jumps on all new people, which is a problem with a stocky 80lb lab. He is also crate trained and loves his crate now.
I think everyone here is saying the same, be consistant. Once the dog has a schedule, when to eat, sleep, go out, etc. its easy.
Reese spends the day in the crate while at work, then the night out with us and sleeps in the hallway or at the foot of our bed. We tried the whole freedom during the day thing and came home to no carpet on one of the stairs and no molding in the kitchen. All labs (english and field) are great dogs and easy to train. Not the brightest, but great great dogs.

I've been doing research on how to train a puppy NOT to jump. It's a long process. When a puppy (or dog) jumps on someone, thats their way of saying "hello". When they jump up, put your hand on their head between their ears, gently push them down and in a stern voice (but not yelling) say, "NO". Eventually they will learn not to.

[EDIT]

Sadie is getting pretty good about not jumping, except when I first get home.
