Average new truck discount?
Average new truck discount?
Whats the avergae discount from the MSRP I could expect on a new F150 ext cab or crew cab 4x4?
I've been looking at Carsdirect.com which usually shows 6-7K below MSRP. I do not want to go to the dealership and deal with the salesmen at the moment. I'm just trying to get an idea of whether I want to purchase a new or used F150.

Correct question:
"What's the average premium above Dealer Invoice I could expect on a new F150 ext cab or crew cab 4x4 before any rebates or incentives are applied."
When making new vehicle purchases I have no idea what MSRP is nor do I care. I have the same reaction to that figure as I do to a salesmans fart.
I laugh.

Oops forgot to answer my own rephrased question.
I have paid dealer invoice (+) $100 (-) Total Incentives.
Also all options are added at the Invoice price.
I have never traded a vehicle, which only muddys the water.

One more thing, don't fall for CarsDirect bull crap on Invoice Pricing, I quote:
"Invoice is popularly known as the published amount that the dealer paid the manufacturer for the vehicle. This may or may not bear close relation to the dealer’s actual cost, but can be useful as a benchmark. This figure is available on many other web sites however only CarsDirect.com adds an estimate of local and regional fees from manufacturer to the dealers to this price, which makes it very close to the actual sticker invoice amount for cars at your local dealer. No other source has this level of detail. Most other sources of Invoice are not accurate.
An estimate of these manufacturer to dealers fees (such as an advertising fee) is provided for each car and is added to the Invoice to make this figure as accurate as possible. We make this estimate for most cars in most regions, there are some regions and vehicles for which we do not have estimates of these fees.
For this model, we have added $421.00 to the Invoice to represent these fees."
They inflate the Invoice price to make their price look attractive.
They are high by about $700 per truck as near as I can figure.

yep if you aren't starting from invoice you already are behind. The window sticker is just a paper with options....ignore the numbers...they don't mean a thing.
I paid $100 over invoice plus all rebates. When the deal was done I was talking to the salesman, who was pretty decent. I told him I was happy with the deal but if I really hammered on them how much lower could I have gotten it. He said about $300-400 was the most they would do but it would have been a huge show and multiple trips. I fell in love with the truck and didn't want to go through all that and leave her on the lot.

Wow, I am lost. I better figure all this out here soon before I start shopping for Mom's new car.

Here is an example of all you need to know:
MSRP = $31,000
Invoice = $25,000
Total Incentives = $2,000
$25,000 (Invoice) + $100 (guilt conscious) - $2,000 (Incentives) = $23,100 cost + Destination
$31,000 (MSRP) = Salesman's fart.

Thanks, I've never bought a new truck so I'm just trying to research some. I'm hoping to sell my truck for $8-$9, pay off my car ($3k) and have $5k as a down payment. I can't afford an F250 ( too much truck in all honesty) so I'm hoping to find a FX4 or Lariat super crew for around $28-$30k. My plan is to get a 72 month loan so I can minimize my payments, and after 2-3 years completely pay the loan off. I found out that I qualify for a new graduate discount (graduated 1.5yrs ago
). I'm also considering used, but I'm pretty **** about buying someone else's truck cause I don't know how they treated it.
