New pics of 66 F250
Well, work is steadliy moving forward on our 66. Changed to a "new" tailgate, and the "new" doors and hood are being picked up next week. Put on the new exhaust last week, and the truck passed inspection so we can drive it around now. I redid all the wiring for the lights, and did a little tuning on the carb to get the idle perfect. Next is to get new plugs, wires, ext...

I have gotten a few PMs on what the "three on the tree" looks like. So, I have put together a few shots to show how it works. One thing I can say about it is that it is a blast to drive. The 352 is matched perfectly to it and is really fun to cruse around in.
Reverse = up and towards you.

Last week when I was drivin it after tunin the carb, Alabama's "Dixiland Delight" came on the AM country station and as I was crusin along a country road. The moment was priceless.

I must be getting old. I still am amazed that so many legal drivers have no clue what a 'three on the tree' is or how to drive one. I drove a few of them in my teens and twenties, never owned one though (my first truck was a '71 F100 w/ a C-6).
Congrats on the '66. Looking forward to the progress pics as you bring her back to showroom condition.

I'm not that old.... I still get carded for ciggeretes and alcohol but I remember 3 on the tree.
My first truck when I was 16 was a 69' F100 that we pulled out of a farmers field. 300 I6, 3 on the tree, 2wd, Beautiful Red Wine paint. Wasn't in bad shape basically rebuilt the brakes and the 1 brl carb and started driving it. Top of cab had some surface rust and that was it. Some body damage on teh passenger side farmer was backing it into his barn and got to close and dented the bed, back of cab, and door on the top of the little lip that sticks out on the 67-72 Fords.
It was fun to take on dates because when I shifted the girls were like "What are you doing?" I'd explain it and they were amazed. I could see them watching me shift every time we took off somewhere. When I would take them back home, if I went in then they would be telling thier dads about it. Thier dads would just smile and nod saying yep an old three on the tree. Then would sometimes end up spending the evening outside looking at the truck with thier dads and talking cars.
Edited to add:
Becareful on that 1st to 2nd gear shift...
I was leaving school one day (after I had changed the 300 I6 for a 302). I was showing off a bit getting on it and went to slam second gear with a power shift to keep the tires spinning. When suddenly my knucle hit the dash. I was like. WTH??? Then realized that I had busted the shifter collar on the column and was stuck in neutral. So I pulled over in a parking lot, crawled underneath, and stuck it in 2nd. Then had to drive it 6 miles down the highway home in second gear. Not fun... Had to drive it 2 weeks with a small hose clamp holding the collar around the shifter untill I could find a new collar, ended up having to buy a whole different column to get it off of for it.

Cool truck, Not to long ago I saw a Ford, can't tell you the year, but the box was built into the cab, Looked like a one peace body, Truck was a early 60's ford heading in the opposite direction of me, never seen one before....3 on the tree, rabbit ears on the the B/W Tv, eight tracks...and 75rpm records and a 66 f-250 with a manual choke, cool.
