Ford question, but not about a truck...

so I'm not posting in the truck forums... if it needs to be moved, admin please move it

I am buying a Mustang Convertible ('95) and the top needs replacing
Pricing tops, I find them from 199 - 500 (plastic window - glass - tinted - non - defroster - no defrost)

What I am asking is this. Is it recommended to replace it myself, or go to a shop and have them do it.. I am getting mixed responces from friends who own them, telling me cost is high at shop, so I should try myself, to cost is worth it at shop cause its a pain in the ****..

any definitive comments welcome.

thanks.

The cost is high, but worth it. If you can, find a shop that has experience with Mustangs.

Ditto...

Check out:
www.mustangforums.com
www.stangnet.com

I know someone on one of those sites just got a new top, and I'm sure there are others who could offer some assistance...

I've always been a dIY'er, and I'll be raplacing the top on my Belvedere probably this fall. Doesn't look too hard, just have to take your time and be careful...

Also look at a shop that replaces boat tops if you decide not to replace your self.

i think i will go to a shop, i like to DIY, but if it doesnt turn out right, the cost of doing over would make me more angry than the cost saved by doing it wrong the first time...

thanks for the input, and the links
