Really. I'm not trying to stick my hand in the bee hive. I just read several paged from that long thread about a certian religious group boycotting Ford. My girl printed out this AP story for me because she though I would find it interesting.

I'm not posting this to call anyone a Jesus crispy, heathen or tighty whitey. There was quite a bit of furvor in "that" thread. I though some of us who read and/or participated in "that" thread might find this AP piece interesting.

I think "that" thread demonstrated that we should probably not discuss religion. I guess that we should'nt discuss politics but I rather enjoyed the discussions leading up to the '04 election. In reality though, there aren't enough of us involved in these thread to say that we have proper representation of the differing opinions. So, the way I figure it, it doesn't matter how "loud" or how long a post may be. How many bolds or italics are used. What we say on this board doesn't really mean a thing in respect to how our society thinks, in general.

Please, check out the link. My girl was right. I did find it interesting. Especially the last paragraph:

The Associated Press-Ipsos polls of about 1,000 adults in each of the 10 countries were taken May 12-26. Each has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
Thank you and death to america

Saw that article the other day, not so sure of the 3% accuracy of any poll, or the Judeo-Christian roots of the U.S., I thought they were all Christians. The "other" thread wasn't so bad, some people were discussing it just fine, just a few got, uhm, "personal" about it. I thought 1969Mach's comments at the end were very interesting and was looking forward to discussing them more, but the thread was locked and 1969Mach doesn't accept emails, oh well. The only thing more annoying than the people complaining that my religion is better than yours were the a$$holes that had no interest in the thread asking for it to be closed. Guess they don't have enough self control to just stay out. For the most part, the thread was civil, I was surprised it got closed.

I was kind of disappointed it was closed too, as it was fun. I apologize for my part in getting it closed, but, poke me and I tend to poke back. I guess I should have stayed in "lurk" mode...

I don't have a problem with this thread so long as I don't see a Pie Chart.

Judeo-christian simply refers to the shared heritage of both religions which this country was built on. Jews and Christians worhip the same God, we just split when Malachi was written and Matthew picks up.

I love the talks hate the insults.

The discussion can be enlightening, the insults are childish and stupid. Insults tend to reveal ignorance.

I agree that we do sometimes have insightful discussions here. It's unfortunate that some of us end up insulting one another. I think it's really because we each feel very srongly about how we percieve the topic. I can deal with differing opinions, I just find it hard to accept someones very narrow point of view. I don't care if it's someone that I agree with or not. Narrow is narrow. I hope there are more insightful conversations to come. Maybe we can even find ways to give our opinion and accept others.

I read the AP piece and found it interesting. I'm not religious but I'm aware that there are a lot of people in this country who are. I tend to be a bit scepticle about polls in general because we often aren't given enough information on how the poll was conducted. Just like the heated threads in this board, the AP poll doesn't give proper representation. They polled about 1000 people in ten countries over a 14 day period? About ten thousand out of how many? I just don't think that their data can be all that accurate. I don't know how many of you are familliar with the Kinsey story. He polled a lot more people over a much longer period of time but his findings were considered flawed. I guess maybe in his case the topic was just to racey for the times.

Poke, Poke,
I'm poking you.... LOL

Yea I was disapointed too, not surprised! I prophisied (sp?) it's foreclosure on pg 7 then again around page 10 or 11.
So I'm not surprised other than it went as long as it did. But I was disappointed, it was starting to come back around to an interesting civilized discussion.

Sorry, I had to reply again because I just seen this and am now forced to say these two things.

First off: If you dont like the topic of a thread then click out and don't click back in... Duh!

Secondly: If you don't like my country then by all means get out and do not come back in! If you can't afford to buy the ticket then just say the word and we will help you leave one way or another!

Edited to add:
Additionally to the First off: Or if you dont like the direction a thread takes then click out and don't return to it.

I think he was only quoting a skit from MAD TV which parodies a Middle Eastern news broadcast where everyone says "Death To America" after every announcement.

momalle1 is correct. Sorry. My girl tells me that a lot of people don't get my sense of humor. I thought more people might have seen Mad TV. I really like the parodie of the Price is right. It's called the Price is Right or the Streets Will Run Red With Blood, or something like that.

PSS-Mag, I was born and raised right here in the USA. I have only left the country once. I ended up having lunch somewhere near Monreal, because I could not figure out how to get to Montreal. I couldn't read the road signs, they were in French. What direction is ouest anyhow? So, just so you know, I'm a 100%, red blooded, proud American, with an odd sense of humor. You might want to check out Mad TV. It's on Fox Saturday nights. It might make you laugh, if you can appreciate sarcasm.

I can vouch for wittom. I have met him and he is just like me, 100% red blooded, proud American and we both had towels on our heads.

I had just got out of the shower, I don't know what was going on with him.
I figured it was either some kind of brain injury or maybe a really bad haircut.

So you are saying that Wittom was waiting for you when you got out of the shower?
