I believe NASCAR does weight the cars with the driver in it or takes the drivers weight into consideration somehow. Still the NASCAR drivers for the most part are getting to be smaller and smaller guys because the crew chiefs can take that 50lbs that might be in the drivers seat and put it in the form of a lead weight somewhere else in the car where it might be more advantageous.

So should every short guy in the NBA be given booster shoes so he can be as tall as Shaq? Give me a break. I hope she kicks the $#*^ out of those guys tomorrow and wins the race. She did post the fastest qualifying time yesterday, 225mph I believe.

I believe, like most of you guys that Danica has the talent and earned her way into the field without question. I hope she does well.

My point was that I was surprised they didn't consider the weight of the driver in the IRL. It's no wonder race car drivers are such small guys. Maybe race car drivers of the future will be the size of today's Race Horse Jockey's.

I think the cars should be weight with the driver in it.

I don't think thats what he's saying.
I think what is being said is that racing should be about vehicle performance + driver. It shouldn't come down to what the driver weighs or how good your crew is, how long you can push it before refueling or running out of gas, gears, etc, etc. That should all be factors but not the determining factors. The cars should NOT be so equal, but driver weight should not be the determening factor in the cars performance. It's not a car race anymore! It's a people race that use the same car. Nothing against Danica she has done a great job, is a great driver and deserves to race. I'm scrawny and she's 50#'s lighter than me or any other average man. Since all the restrictions we are now down to driver weight, I might as well have watched the Kentucky Derby.

I want a CAR race!

Instead we have gotten to a point that it's a crew race with some jocky I mean driver skill involved. If they would atleast weigh the cars with the drivers then we wouldn't have this problem at all. But I say let them run as many HP at what ever weight they see fit and run the H377 out of them. Then I will watch again. Safety requirements are one thing but it's gotten a littel carried away in the name of "SAFTEY".

Edited to add:
And I said all of that long before Danica entered teh scene or Baby Gordon started crying this tune.

Robby Gordon sucks
Danica sucks.

Both of them are good at wrecking themselves and others.

Danica stalled out her car on a pit stop and just wrecked all by herself on a caution lap. That's talent!

Yes , Danica made some rookie mistakes but she came back from them. She is a good driver and will get better the more races she does. She had a hot car, good crew, and she almost won the race.

All this woman driver bashing reminds me of the 70's when Shriley Muldowny (aka the Pink Flame) came up. No one said she would be any good behind a top fuel dragster. She proved them wrong. I met her and she was all about the sport. Sort of like what Danica is today.

I wish Danica all the luck in her upcomming races and I look forward to seeing her back at Indy in 2006.

I wasn't a big Danica fan until today. She showed some huevos! She has an attitude and disposition that the IRL needs.

Yes, she made some rookie mistakes today, but then she came back to lead the race with 10 laps to go? That's shows some talent like it or not. Only the fuel strategy stopped her from claiming the race.

I think those whiners are just afraid of having their butts handed to them by a tiny little cuty pie.

She didn't come back to lead the race. She was the first car that didn't pit under a caution, so she "assumed" the lead from 15th place. That's a BIG difference. She then stayed in front a couple laps until 3 other cars passed her.

This was my first IRL race I've watched in a long time. To me it's very boring compared to NASCAR.
