Honeymoon Planning (travelers input needed)
Honeymoon Planning (travelers input needed)
Alright, I am planning my honeymoon for next may and was looking for input from others who have traveled to some of these places.... Here is some of the final places I am looking at...
Aruba
Dominican Republic
Costa Rica
Cayman Islands
Cuncun
Hawaii
What can I expect from these places and any suggestions on where to stay... My family own RCI gold crown red level time shares, so we will be staying at one of those, but a lot of hotels and resorts use the RCI, so make any suggestions about specific places as well...
If I had to decide now with no further input, I would pick Costa Linda Beach Resort in Aruba... All help is appreciated...

Hmmm. I use to be a member of RCI when I bought a timeshare in Cabo San Lucas. Anyway, the only place on your list I've been too is Costa Rica. It is a wonderful place and I encourage everyone to visit, but I dont know if it would be my choice for a honeymoon. Stay away from Cancun for a honeymoon as well. From what I've seen on the WPT, I'd go with Aruba.
Aruba is nice, great diving, red sail sports or pelican water sports, places to eat "que pasa" "the roof top" local food is very good, the local speak several diffrent languages. my wife is returning there for work in aug, sept, oct, so the company will probably send me there again
my wife and I just returned form Jamaica, Sandals resort in Ocho Rios, all inclusive even the diving.
I have never been to the other places you listed but if its a fun in the sun vacation, pick and go
have fun

Go here www.fourseasonshotel.com and click on Maui....trust me sir. I have been all over the world and that is THE most incredible resort I have ever seen!
Hawaii, hands down. Like no other place, and you don't have worry about anyone trying to kill you for your watch and a few bucks. I can't wait to go back... beats the crap out the Bahamas, the south, and any other place.

thank you
My Wife and I have been to the Cayman Islands four times. We absolutely love it, but if you are considering it as an option, be aware the it still has not fully recovered from Hurricane Ivan. There is not a tremendous amount of nightlife, but the people are wonderful and the restaurants are fantastic...though a bit expensive. An excellent resource is http://www.caymanactivityguide.com/forums/
Rather than going there this year, we opted for Cancun and I have to say that not only were we impressed, we were so blown away by how much better it was than we ever anticipated it would be. We stayed in the hotel zone and used the public bus system several times each day. We always felt safe, wherever we went. In contrast to Grand Cayman, there is a lot of nightlife in Cancun, but it is not "in your face" unless you opt to go to the area where it is.
We've heard great things about the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica, but have been warned that you probably do not want to venture too far outside of your resort area.
Have not been to Aruba, but it is high on the list. Long trip, relative to the rest of the Caribbean, because it is so close to South America. The weather is consistent. Ther are casinos and nightlife and it is supposed to be very safe. I've been told that it is very "Americanized" so if you want authenticate island life, it may not be appropriate. I've also heard great things about the Bucuti Beach Resort (http://www.bucuti.com/en/), if you don't want to stay amongst the mega-hotels.
Depending on your location, Hawaii is a LONG trip, but may be worth it. If you are considering the South Pacific, give Bora Bora or Tahita a close look. Less touristy, more authentic.
Hope that helps a bit...
