Tons of free stuff
I'm not willing to reward some company with my personal info. These companies prey on the gullible who believe that someone out there will actually give you something of value without getting something of MORE value in return. Just like the idiot car sales ads that scream at you about how they will give you $1000 or a free Corvette if they can't beat any other dealer's best deal. If you actually believe that crap, you will get burned because they know the scam and you don't.
Well, if you research it you will see that gratis is paid anywhere from $40-$60 for each person that signs up for an offer. They buy stuff at wholesale, so they actually make quite a bit of money. Sorry to see so many skeptics here. A few bad apples out there ruins it all for the rest, it's sad really.

Heck, I'd pay the $50 to keep my name OFF those lists!

If I'm going to pay an average of $50 per lead for thousands of leads, I damn sure better be making more money off those leads than I'm spending. A $50 lead is high dollar, so you are handing all your personal contact info over to pro solicitors who will do everything they can to recover their $50 (times 100 or more) by trying to sell you something. They may start immediately or they may wait 90 days, but you can be assured that many commissioned salespeople have your info on their 'hot leads' list.

You are going off opinion, I am going off facts. I have done it... have you?
Edit: Besides, I block unavailable/private numbers and they never have caller ID on those telemarketer calls... so no problem anyway! Also, I am on the national "do not call" list, so I can sue every person who calls me and get even more free stuff

Here are some facts. Don't get upset, but in this information age a lot of people, myself included put the value on their personal information very high. While you do get the Ipod, in most cases it is a refurb, you are willingly giving away your personal information. In fact I'd have to check their discloser agreement but you may be waiving your right to the Do Not Call Registry for that company and its affliates.

That is an interesting article, but I don't mind a little spam in exchange for thousands in free merchandise (I have AOL anyways... they block 99% spam/unwanted emails). Also, if you are on the do not call list, ONLY people you have specifically done business with (ie freeipods.com) can call you. If they give your number away, the recipients cannot call you. I know this becasue my father uses telemarketers for his real estate cold calls, and the DNCL is very strict. I would love for someone to call me, easy money!
