PMs have not been allowed forever. At least, as long as I have been here

Email works if the other person has allowed it. PM's have never been turned on here and never will. This question gets asked about once every two weeks, more often since the software change.

Emails should work if recipient "allows" them.

Do I have to allow the V-card download? My profile is set up to accept e-mails, but this member said he was unable to from my profile. Not too big of a deal, but I thought it could of been a glitch in the new format.

No, you do not have to allow the V-card download. If another person wishes to email you, he can click on the link in your profile and send you a text email using a form. He will not be able to see your actual email address on that form.

Rocky, so you have it set up not to receive e-mails? I gave a quick try on yours and it says this user doesn't allow e-mails either.

I click on your name to "view public profile" then click on the "Send a message via email to RockyJSquirrel" icon on the right side of the page.

The message I get is:
"Sorry! That user has specified that they do not wish to receive emails. If you still wish to send an email to this user, please contact the administrator and they may be able to help."

This happens on mine, yours and any other that I have tried.

You're right, vegastrac. I just tried and it seems there is a bug in the email thing. I have my options set to allow email from other members but the system thinks I'm not allowing emails.

As has been noted, PM's have never been used here.

It seems as though the upgrade process turned off the member email functionality.

Chalk up another undocumented "feature" of the upgrade process that otherwise changes the way things used to work without any advance warning.

Hehe..
Welcome ot the wonderful world of bigger better technology... LOL
Just be thankful it's not a billing data base or anything... I've had that happen before with billing software. Nothing like an ISP not being able to change thier customers accounts or make adjustments...

Edited to add:
I'm not complaing or anything.. But I am only getting e-mails for like 1 out of 20 replies to any of the threads that I have subscribed to. I catch the majority of the replies by checking the forums every 30mins or so when I can. But when I can't then I mis replies and dont read them unless someone else happens to bump the thread when I am around to see it.
It was like 1 out of 5 before so it got much worse now. I dont know if anyone else is getting the same thing. Just a heads up though...

I like the "No email notification" option. You automatically "subscribe" to every thread you post in, and in your user CP those threads are linked for you. They show in bold if they have been posted in after you.

This also keeps a bunch of emails from showing up in your inbox
