Exactly what they were about to do. Then they decided that they should let my brother finish high school in california so they got a swimming pool put it the back. They are going to be able to get a big house in the east some where.

Its not quite as bad but getting that way in the Reno/Vegas area. I was thinking of moving out west to Reno, I figure it would be a nice place to live. Mountains, warm weather, etc..

I started looking at jobs. A couple of the adds said "with 6000 people moving to the area a month please do not apply until you are moved settled and ready to work". That was shocking enough. SO I started looking at houses.

I live about 10mins outside of Indianapolis (Indiana sucks, hence the moving) BUT, I built a house last year about 2600 sq ft. I started looking out west it was around 450-500k before I found something that was comparable. SOOOOO, I love INDY.

You're right- Indy is kinda sleepy..

Except for when the Brickyard 400/500 (whatever) and the Indy 500 are being run..

Either that, or I didn't know where the hot spots were.

My sister bought her 1700 sq ft house in a gated community in Modesto (suburb to the Bay Area) 5 years ago for $125,000 the house is now worth $310,000. Luckily she works local otherwise she would be driving 2 hours each way to work like most of the other people there. I left California in '95 to move back east and I have never looked back. BTW, I took advantage of the great real estate prices here and my house payment is only $350 a month for 2,100 sq ft. and only 5 more years till she is paid off.

Most of my family (parents, brother, sister) are moving to North Carolina this month. They have all sold their houses in the Bay Area at big profits and have bought homes in nice suburbs of Raleigh, where homes are approximatley 1/4 the price of similar homes in the East Bay.

My parent's home in the Bay Area went up in value about 900% in 28 years, which will help them retire well.

My home in the central valley has doubled in value in the last 3 years. Not bad at all, but I'm still kicking myself for taking an extravagent honeymoon 10 years ago instead of putting a downpayment on a house- the profit I would have made would easily have paid for the kid's college education and then some.

its unbelieve how high the prices are even for the ****hole they call the central valley. I mean, we got the dirtest air in the country, theres really not a whole lot to do here. It gets 100+ in the summer. PG&E costs are outrageous here. Its getting to a point where it costs an arm and a leg to live in a ****hole.

I bailed out of San Diego back in 2000 when I saw an opportunity. Congestion and crime were the two biggest factors.

The house I bought here in AZ is now going for almost 3 times what I paid for it 5 years ago. The population is growing faster than the weeds after a wet winter but at least we can open carry legally here. It pretty much offsets most of the gang-banger mentality found in San Diego or L.A. type places (at least in the more rural areas).

And concealed carry is easily obtainable for anyone without a felony record.

Phoenix is supposed to be the fastest growing city. I've heard many stories about people buying homes well outside the city limits then sell and move (for a nice profit) several times because the city just keeps moving in around them.
