If your lenses are anything like my old carbon fiber lenses that I don't use anymore, I had a red lens on top and a clear lens at the bottom. Look at your tail light lenses and find where the brake light lens is located. The brake light bulbs should be easy enough to find because they come on when you press the brake. To find your turn signal wires, just turn your turn signals on and find the ones that blink. Splice your turn signals wires into your brake lights. And plug them into the "red" tail light lens where the brake lights go. Then find your reverse back-up lights which should go into the "clear lens" and plug them in. I've never tried this before, but I think it'll work. If you don't feel comfortable doing it, try to find somebody that knows what they're doing. Your last alternative is to return them for a refund and find a set that fits.

i wounder if it has anything to do with my truck being made in 5/96 or thats whats on the sticker in door...see i wrecked my truck and wanted to put new head lights and tail lights so to use the euro lights on mine i had to change my header panel they said at the dealer that the hearder panels are different in the first 6 mo of the production and after 7/96 they went to a different hearder panel and im wounder if maybe thats when they changed from a 3 bulb system to a 2 bulb system cause the guy at the dealer said the 99 to 03 had only 2 bulbs but even the parts book on my year showed the 3 bulb system....and the place i got my lights said they didnt understand and im like of you sale lights for 97 to o3 ford f-150 flairside and they dont have all the bulb wholes so i was woundering if i could leave one hanging....

There are some changes made from the early 97's on up to the 98's. So yeah, you problably have different tail lights because your truck was built 5/96. Most aftermarket manufacturers don't keep up with that stuff. And that's problably why they're saying they should fit, because they don't know of the changes.
